11.01.2022 CHRISTMAS DONATION CALLOUT 2020 For the last three years we have coordinated a ‘Christmas Drive’ where we travel around Maningrida and remote homelands giving ...out presents. We love to share the joy and generosity of the season and we are known by our iconic red and green manwak (mumeka blooms) troopie. Due to the road floods and storms of the wet season, families that choose to stay on their homelands are cut off from town and have little opportunity to purchase gifts. If you wish to donate this year, we would love toys, sports goods, kids clothes, towels, sheets, art supplies, fishing goods, sewing supplies, books or blankets. Our postal address is: Babbarra Op Shop (christmas drive) PMB 102 WINNELLIE NT 0822 Australia If you would rather make a financial contribution, we welcome any donation small or big at https://babbarra.com/support/ Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation services 32 homelands in remote locations across Western Arnhem Land. We are thrilled to be able to support young families during the holiday season. We are so thankful to our loyal Babbarra Designs customers and those who have donated so generously over the last year. 06.01.2022 KIP & Co X BABBARRA It’s here, after two years in the making. The collection showcasing the contemporary art of our artists at Bábbarra. ‘I feel good Australi...a will see my design and know my story. The Bábbarra ladies are so strong. We have the strongest ladies at the women’s centre. We always work together, and feel proud of our work here,’ shares Raylene. Eight unique artworks from seven artists featured in the collaboration; Deborah Wurrkidj, Elizabeth Wullunmingu, Helen Lanyinwanga (deceased), Janet Marawarr, Jennifer Wurrkidj, Margot Gurawiliwili, and Raylene Bonson. We know that when women are financially empowered, the flow on effects for children and families are significant, This project was the idea of the Bábbarra women, who have long wanted to have their designs featured on a bed linen range. It was their idea, and a significant consideration was made to ensure the artists’ interests were positioned first. As a collaborative partner Kip&Co was the perfect fit, as they are proudly owned and run by women, and create high-quality homewares with a commitment to responsible sourcing and sustainable practices so there was instant synergy" - Jessica Phillips, Babbarra Women’s Centre Manager The Kip&Co collection has been shortlisted in the Textiles Design category for TDF+laminex Design Awards. Bábbarra and Kip&Co divide all profits from this collaboration equally.
