18.01.2022 At MAC, we spend a lot of time outdoors and have a close relationship with the environment. We always aim to use resources wisely, and issues of sustainability are very important to us. Since Scouting began, young people have been connecting with the outdoors, learning from nature and taking positive action for their local and global environments. Our relationship with the environment is about more than just spending time within it we are commi...tted to environmental education and living sustainably. Environmental education is an important aspect of the Scout program, and key to developing global citizens. Through the nature & the outdoors element of the Scout Method, we provided young people with opportunities to experience and connect with the natural world with benefits to both the individual and the environment. Recycling at MAC gives young people an opportunity to develop the practical #SkillsForLife needed to make positive changes in creating a better world. Over the last 6 weeks we have diverted 5.5 cubic meters of recyclable waste from going into Land fill, that’s means we are now recycling over 30% of all our waste at MAC, thank you and well done to everybody who has helped us achieve this. A recycling rate of 30% is good but we think we can do better, when you visit MAC please read the recycling instructions that are in your welcome packs and ensure you and your young people fully understand our recycling procedures, if you have any questions please contact the office or any of our friendly staff who are happy to help. As scouts living by our scout promise and law, and to further divert food from land fill, we are very happy to announce that we are working with Foodbank WA to rescue unwanted food. Should you have any items that you wish to donate to Food Bank please leave them on the bench in your accommodation. Please contact our Site Caretaker or Manjedal Staff to collect food if you are camping or have any cold or frozen items. Further details of what is accepted can be found in the attachment or in your welcome pack. Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to doing our part in supporting sustainable development goals. https://sdgs.scout.org
