24.01.2022 Another 30 or so pavers have been added to the Manjimup Centenary Pathway recently. The pathway is a celebration of people, businesses and organizations who have contributed to the local area over the last 100 years to 2010. Whether it be from a few years living locally or from many generations, all of these contributions are being celebrated. Potentially some great stories could be told to match the pavers. I'm sure the Manjimup Historical Society would be interested to here from people who would like to add to the pathway and continue it as a living project.

19.01.2022 I found this small sterling silver plaque at the old goldfields ghost town of Kurrawang some years ago. Records show that the Schoch's were school teachers at the No 1 (Deans) Saw mill. Is there a local museum this can be donated to? Cheers

17.01.2022 Good to see another Icon unveiled within the Shire of Manjimup, celebrating times gone passed. Down in Manjin Park if you haven't seen it. No doubt there will be more to follow in time.

13.01.2022 Apparently there used to be a cannery in Manjimup.

12.01.2022 Manjimup history has been asleep for such a long time. Time to wake it up again. A lot has happened since the last post. The arch at the northern entrance to Manjimup turns 57 this year. I wonder how many times the logs have been replaced over that time?

11.01.2022 Was wandering through the Manjimup Timber and Heritage Park the other day and came across this randomly placed wheel. What was it from and I'm wondering what stories it could tell.

09.01.2022 Profile pic is the crane within the re-developed old Manjimup railway yard. The town location owes its existence to the placement of of the railway in 1910. Was build west of the Wilgarrup River because of the flatter ground.

03.01.2022 The Warren Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Society (phew, I'm glad I got that out!) will be celebrating the centenary of Manjimup Shows next year. The organisers are interested in talking to people who have stuff from previous shows.

03.01.2022 Great clip found - a lot of the equipment used still on display in the Manjimup Timber and Heritage Park.

01.01.2022 Looks like the Shire of Manjimup is unveiling its next Icon - on Sunday 22 November 2015, at noon at the Woolworths carpark. A 15 min ceremony to celebrate the Butter Factory Icon, light refreshments, then into the replacement store for some retail therapy!

01.01.2022 Just had a look at another clip on YouTube - a MRGTV production on the Shire of Manjimup. It suggests that the area was 'first settled in 1856 by timber cutter Thomas Muir'. Thomas Muir probably did some cutting of timber, however I don't think one would refer to him as a timber cutter!
