20.01.2022 SACROILIAC JOINT PAIN The sacroiliac joint is a joint between the sacrum and the ilium, or pelvic bone. The two sides of the sacroiliac joint normally work together. If one side becomes stiff, they will not move together and this causes pain or muscle stiffness in the area. Pain is often made worse with walking and bending activities. It is also possible that one side may become too loose (lax) as well, resulting in SIJ dysfunction. This may occur during the menstrual cycle ...or pregnancy due to hormonal changes that cause the ligaments to become more lax. SIJ dysfunction can occur with injury, such as when a person falls and lands on one side of the body and alters the position of the joint, or when an athlete overtrains. Muscle imbalances and hip problems, such as hypermobility or dysplasia, may also lead to SIJ dysfunction. Sacroiliac pain is also related to some types of arthritis, such as ankylosing spondylitis, an inflammatory process most often affecting the lower back, which may cause the vertebrae to fuse. People with SIJ dysfunction may experience: Pain that may be sharp, stabbing or dull, localised to one side of the pelvis/low back, groin, or tailbone. Pain that may radiate down to the knee. Pain with movements, such as standing up from a sitting position, turning in bed, or bending/twisting. Muscle tightness and tenderness in the hip/buttock region. Pain with walking, standing, and prolonged sitting. Pain that is worse when standing and walking, and eases when sitting or lying down. Call Manjimup Physiotherapy today for correct diagnosis and treatment.

17.01.2022 TRADIES - Your body is your work tool. Physically demanding jobs can cause and exacerbate a range of injuries. It’s not surprising that tradies are over represented in work place statistics compared to other workers. The average time off work for a tradie due to serious workplace injury is five to six weeks time most people simply can’t afford, especially the self employed.... Tradies rely on their bodies for work. Their bodies are their work tool, so if they break down they can’t work to their full capacity. Physiotherapists are trained in human movement, so we are able to show tradies the best way to perform a task. We can help with fitness, flexibility and strength to ensure they are working optimally. 12.01.2022 TEXT NECK Text neck is the term used to describe the neck pain and damage sustained from looking down at your cell phone, tablet, or other wireless devices too frequently and for too long. This occurs when the neck slants forward, placing the head in front of the shoulders.... Poor posture can cause neck pain by straining muscles and ligaments that support the neck, resulting in injury over time. The head-and-shoulders-forward posture is the most common example of poor posture that contributes to neck pain. Physiotherapy will treat the injury and provide strategies to prevent it becoming a permanent problem. Book an appointment today 9777 1048 Covid protocols in place.

02.01.2022 RADIAL PULSE WAVE Therapy is available at Manjimup Physiotherapy This cutting edge technology is proven to enhance and reset the healing pattern. Impressive results have been reported in cases that have failed to respond to conventional treatment. It treats the musculoskeletal pathology instead of just offering symptomatic relief. What is Radial Pulse Wave (RPW) Therapy The basic principles behind shockwave therapy are the high pressured acoustic shockwaves which travel t...hrough the skin to stimulate pain relief and tissue repair. Radial Pressure waves were originally used as a medical treatment for eliminating kidney stones. Some of the side effects discovered while using this treatment were bone healing and accelerated tissue healing in the areas submitted to shockwave treatment. Today, the use of radial shockwaves or RPW has been successfully extended. Some of the conditions for which RPW is used successfully include: * Frozen Shoulder * Knee pain * Tennis elbow * Muscle strain * Soft tissue injury * Bursitis * Tendonitis * Plantar fasciitis
