02.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be. As we enter NAIDOC week, it's timely to consider what it means to integrate Aboriginal world views and theories into early childhood... curriculum. It is also a reminder that a critical part of our work is to not just build the knowledge of children but also the knowledge of the educators and teachers who work alongside children. This may mean some deep soul searching and a commitment to expand your own knowledge, identifying your knowledge gaps and source new information including information that will build a rich and thoughtful curriculum. We want a world that commits to the celebration of difference, that values the history of the land we occupy and the people who came before us. We want to struggle with big questions such as 'How can I make a difference to this world' and 'How can my curriculum move beyond token experiences to learning that changes people'. Remember we may never get it always right, but we need to give it a go. We may be paralysed by uncertainty but let's be fuelled by our politics and share and celebrate with others the wonderful and rich cultures of the Aboriginal people of this country. And remember Always Was, Always Will Be. See more
