08.01.2022 Hi all, just wanted to take a minute to wish you a very merry Christmas and most of all good health! These days people don't spend much time or thought on some personal words to their friends and family, they just copy and paste some random message and send it on. So after all we've been though together this year I want to thank you for your friendship and wish you a happy and fulfilling 2021 - you’re the best gymnastics club anyone could ask for. Best wishes, MWGC xx

04.01.2022 With the Tour De France having just finished its first test day, we decided to jump behind the wheel of our VW Amarok thanks to Bill Buckle Volkswagen and talk to our own DS, Tom Petty of Team BridgeLane to hear his thoughts of the first week. Rest day recap In keeping with recent editions, this Tour has already thrown up a few surprises. Weve had the most boring stage ever with a 197km procession ride followed by an exciting sprint that is usually reserved for the Champs-E...lysees, Julian Alaphilippe lost yellow for taking an irregular drink and Nairo Quintana attacked for the first time since 2016. Amid all the drama, theres been some notable highlights with Aussie favourite Caleb Ewan winning a stage, some great crosswind action and combative early mountain stages drawing out the favourites, something which is often also reserved for a few select stages later in the race. Jumbo Visma have been the stand out team and look to have usurped Ineos as the dominant team in world cycling. Some might debate that, but its harder to debate the favourite after the first week. The Slovenian, Primoz Roglic, hasnt put a foot wrong and has already seen several top contenders fall by the wayside. On the flatter and undulating stages, his teammate Wout Van Aert has been incredible, riding so well you could be convinced hes using a motor, taking two stages and confirming hes the best post-Covid. Looking ahead, theres bound to be more drama. Positive tests have cast a shadow over Tours past and could feature again but with a new meaning this year if crowd control remains an issue. I know from my own experience (even if Im only the 3rd best DS at Team BridgeLane) being in the race leading team is quite stressful, and when you have this extra component, Ive no doubt it will be an added mental drain on the staff and riders. Will holding yellow from so early in the tour lead to Roglics demise? Hes mastered the art of the most boring post-race interviews imaginable so maybe the energy saved will balance this new uncontrollable element. So, Roglic leads and is favourite but Im going to go out on a limb and stick with Bernal. As defending champion, its not a long limb, but if I put my DS hat on to help Bernal win, I think my strategy would remain to focus on measuring the efforts and to be strong late in the race to capitalise on the others fatigue. Ineos havent looked the team of old so sitting just off the lead may be advantageous with all the pressure on Jumbo Visma and time will tell if the added battle for Slovenian pride between Roglic and Pogacar will leave them at Bernals mercy.

03.01.2022 Not a bad TT last night at the Tour - but how would they go at our Loan Market TT?

02.01.2022 Another bumper Tuesday Champion System Australia Easts Cycling Club Heffron Night. With big fields across all three grades, it made it a little easier for riders to hide in the head/cross down the main straight. With his third win in the eighth week of racing, he has returned from his crash only a few weeks back. 1. Tom Bolton Oliver's Real Food Racing... 2. Daniel Gandy St. George Continental Cycling Team 3. Jack Bennett Randwick Cycling Club B Grade - Reid Daish Sydney Uni C Grade - Tom Collins Easts Female - Hattie Lowden Rapha Riders can now focus this Sunday’s Loan Market TT at West Head with entries now open via Buncheur. All MWCC riders whether race or social members can race for free in the TT.

01.01.2022 Phillip Gray and Phil Dunne have provided plenty of bike envy over the last few days on their bike packing adventure.
