25.01.2022 AIF Carnival 18th March Report This was held in Grafton. Those of us attending drove up at different times, the weather was shocking but it didn't spoil the weekend. We, a small contingent of 16 competitors, again shone --- ... The ladies came 2nd to Southport in the Women's Sylvia Lee trophy. The men came 4th to Southport (1st), Cobar (2nd), Ballina (3rd) in the Jacaranda Perpetual trophy, and we came 2nd in the Southport Perpetual Overall trophy - what a great result, well done to everyone. Individual Championships Results as under - Sue Levett and Bill Harris both won their 75-79 age group 50m Free and both set the record. Joan Ryan came 3rd to Sue in the 75-79 years 50m Free. Gary Headland came 2nd in his age group 70-74 50m Free. Gail Butler came 2nd in her age group 65-69 50m Free and 2nd in the over 60's 50m Back. Rebecca Higgins came 2nd in her age group 60-64 50m Free and 3rd in the over 60s 50m Breast. Paul McNee came 3rd in the over 60s 50m Fly and 2nd in the over 60s 50m Back. Sue Kearney came 1st in her age group 55-59 years 50m Free. Melanie Higgins came 1st in her age group 18-24 years 50m Free, 2nd in the 50m Open Breast and 2nd in the 50m Open Back. Unfortunately none of us made the finals for the 30m, 50m & 100m handicaps, some of us got quite close to our nominated times, but not close enough ! On the Sunday, the few left behind went to Yamba and Angourie for some well deserved fish and chips! Next year the AIF carnival will be held in Nelson Bay on Saturday 10th March 2018. #swimming #NSW #manly #diggers #AIF #swim #grafton
