04.01.2022 Finally under the cover of COVID 19 the Manly Environment Centre has closed. Sadly Judy Reizes, the long term Centre Manager, fell seriously ill late last year, spending some time in hospital and then home recovering but never returning to her beloved MEC. For months the MEC remained open but rudderless without a succession plan, council support to modernise or enthusiastic community members willing to 'maintain the rage' on local environmental issues. Senior staff at North B...eaches Council has promised to to write a report on how it was going to deliver 'Environmental Education Services' and modernise the MEC. Highly paid consultants were called in, they conducted a workshop with interested stakeholders and collected a load of postit notes on flip charts. But since then, silence and now the MEC is closed. Please write to the NB council and ask them what the future offers and what is going to replace the MEC. [email protected] See more
