25.01.2022 I’m in the Downing Centre this morning. The security check is equivalent to leaving on a jet plane. Queues, ID check, sanitizer then heat photo. All in the name of Covid. But I love my profession.

25.01.2022 So today I appeared in Surry Hills Childrens Court for a young lad on his birthday. He turned 14. He started losing his way about 8 months ago but I hope he’s finding his way back home now. Great result. Grateful parents and I know why I love my profession.

21.01.2022 Sutherland court tomorrow. Hope the magistrates have had a great evening and are feeling magnanimous

18.01.2022 Yes, finally made it to Van Gogh.

14.01.2022 Guess you won't be buying a Jayco for your travels. Misleading advertising is a serious offence for companies. Read what is written on their websites. If what you get isn't what's advertised eg Australian made but actually imported from India like the canvas in annexes, then demand the real thing or lodge a complaint.

09.01.2022 Available short notice for appearances in Gosford Local Court. Phone 0414755008 for urgent advice and to arrange a conference.

08.01.2022 Long time since I’ve been in Manly court on a Friday morning but that’s where you’ll find me tomorrow. Covid ready and fully prepared.Long time since I’ve been in Manly court on a Friday morning but that’s where you’ll find me tomorrow. Covid ready and fully prepared.

08.01.2022 Drive to Sutherland court this morning horrendously slow with heavy blasts of rain. Parking? Ha. Had to drag my aching back 2 blocks. That put me in a really good mood. Not! Then I land a magistrate who must be frightened of lawyers taking her decisions on appeal. She takes 30 minutes to sentence (been known to take 2hours) Finally it's my turn. " Your Honour, I have a short plea". It's midday. She gives quick glance at the facts "Mrs Pullinger there is a child involved. Th...is is not a short matter!" and orders SAR. I'm thinking but not saying WTF? There goes lunch. Back at 2pm. "Mrs Pullinger. I have to get through all the custody matters before getting to you." I'm being punished because my mobile went off in court. First time ever and here is a warning to you all. If someone has you in their phone as "ICE" ( in case of emergency) it will override you silencing your phone. And it rings VERY loud. I immediately send a text to Mr Pullinger "If you're not having a 2nd heart attack remove me as your ICE!"Anyway, an apology and explanation didn't get me anywhere. Light at the end of the tunnel. At 3.30pm my matter gets flipped to another court. My client witnesses a pleasant change in my demeanor. There's no way I want an adjournment. Who enjoys driving from Manly to Sutherland. I'm 7 miles from Sydney and a 1,000 miles from care. My client is charged with intimidate intend fear, physical harm to the 11 year old daughter of his partner and resist arrest. I'm over making submissions about the second charge as police lay the charge as a matter of course these days. How else are they going to get paid for a victims compensation claim Often they "poke the bear". Anyone who has been my client or heard me in court knows I follow Mr Ian Barker, QC who taught me "Get to the point quickly". You get paid for the day so why not finish early so you can celebrate at lunch. (He didn't say that). But I was privileged to have him as my mentor. So my matter took 10 minutes. His honour told my client in open court that he agreed with the very persuasive submissions put by his counsel and gave him the equivalent of the old S10 bond for 12 months. Clients gets outside and asks" What just happened?" I say "No criminal conviction. Be a good man for the next 12 months" Goes in for the hug & kiss but I remind him of Covid. Other barristers might be there for the money but I was very flattered to be told in open court I had done a great job and it means so much to me to be appreciated by my client. Happiness all round

06.01.2022 My mantra. I know I live up to it in my work.

05.01.2022 I don’t think you can be in this job unless you understand the meaning of empathy. Most of my clients have struggled along the way before landing on my doorstep.

05.01.2022 Only one court operating at Manly today and there is a defended hearing. It’s going to be a loooong day

04.01.2022 Do you think this law is fair?

02.01.2022 This is a little reminder regarding photographs on FB. If you take a photo you own the copyright. If you take a photo with someone else’s camera/mobile you still own the copyright. You cannot download photos from another person’s site and use their intellectual property without their permission. I run a lunch club. It is a private group and only members can see posts. However, I have noticed that ex-members are posting photos that I have taken without my permission. This is a minor peeve of mine but imagine artists and photographers who rely on their images to make a living.

01.01.2022 Sydney’s Children Court this morning. An opportunity to wander the deserted streets of Surry Hills. Then pop into the District Court to see how David G Pullinger’s trial is progressing. That man is so busy!

01.01.2022 A morning in the Downing Centre with a client who did the 5 finger discount at Bunnings. I could do with a sausage sizzle for breakfast
