24.01.2022 Meet our lovely patient, Danny! Danny loves smiling now that we straightened his teeth for his perfect smile. He was missing a tooth so we decided to remove three more teeth in order to straighten his teeth. He had lingual braces on his top teeth (braces on the inside of his teeth) and white porcelain braces on his bottom teeth. 21.01.2022 Lavinia's top jaw was too narrow to fit over the lower jaw, causing her lower jaw and chin to shift to the left side. We applied a palatal expander for 7 months to widen Lavinia's upper jaw. By widening her upper jaw it allowed her lower jaw to sit in the correct position eliminating the shift of her jaw and chin to the left side as well as the crossbite. In 2015, Sophie's mum placed the successful bid at St Cecelia's annual gala auction for a free course of orthodontic treatment from Manly Orthodontics. 14.01.2022 Do you know what a crossbite is? A crossbite is when the top teeth bite on the inside of the bottom teeth. You can think of your bottom row of teeth as a box and the top row of teeth as the lid. The lid (your top row of teeth) needs to be big enough to fit over the box (the bottom row of teeth), but if the lid is too small your top and bottom teeth cannot fit together properly. This patient's crossbite led to uneven wear of her upper left central incisor's enamel. 02.01.2022 Say hello to Fern! Can you tell that she is missing two front teeth? Fern didn't develop her adult upper right lateral incisor tooth, so we had two options. To either close the space or to open a space for an implant once she is an adult. Fern and her mum decided to close the space so that she wouldnt need any extensive dental work in the future. We also decided to remove the lateral incisor on her left side to keep her smile symmetrical. Her canine teeth were reshaped to ...make them a bit less pointy and camouflage them as lateral incisors. Fern had quite a long journey after 2.5 years with braces and another year with a twin block before that, but she is delighted with the result.
