23.01.2022 The theme of this year's International Women's Day Campaign is #EachforEqual "An equal world is an enabled world. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day.... We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, each one of us can help create a gender equal world. Let's all be #EachforEqual." (https://www.internationalwomensday.com/Theme) Let us not forget those amongst us who are not as fortunate. Domestic violence is one of the leading cause of HOMELESSNESS for women and children. *One woman dies every week in Australia as a result of domestic and family violence. *1.6 million women in Australia have experienced some form of domestic or family violence. *Escaping domestic or family violence is a major contributor to homelessness among women and children. Manna is proud to be a supporter of our partner agency #STARICK- an independent, not for profit organisation with charitable status based in Perth's south-eastern metropolitan region and working to end family and domestic violence. 18.01.2022 So this is the Wednesday school delivery run! 32 schools a week an average of 20 children accessing the school breakfast program at each school that's over 600 children a week assisted by Manna. Over the next few posts we will let you know the items that we supply to the schools and how you can help us.
18.01.2022 Many of the people (men and women) we see regularly at the park and through the other agencies we visit are victims of family violence. An interesting quote from the article : "We need to establish realistic and commonly understood expectations about the time and resourcing it will take to truly end family violence in our communities. This stands at odds with the reactive political landscape we live in and the expectation for results in the short term. You cannot apply a market logic to social problems. You can invest in improving the generation and use of evidence and data in our decision making and the way we talk about this problem." Through Manna's programs such as the School Breakfast Program we hope that we are doing our bit towards a generational change, starting with the children.
17.01.2022 Today we were delighted to be able to talk to the year 6 students at International School of Western Australia as part of their project "inequity is a catalyst for action. Thank you to Ms Spencer for the invitation and to the students for being such an engaged audience and for asking such well thought out and deep questions regarding the Perth Homeless situation and what they, as students, can do to help.

13.01.2022 This NZ program is similar to our Manna School Breakfast program. We currently provide food items to 32 schools in the Perth Metro area.
12.01.2022 As a community we have all been impacted in one way or another, and during these tough times may we all remember that for many of those who are vulnerable and disadvantaged, the current situation puts them in a much worser position as many have no access to the basic requirements that we should all have to keep ourselves safe. Our regular donations from food rescue agencies such as Ozharvest and Second Bite whom we rely heavily upon have dropped significantly, and this will... have a devastating flow on effect in the available produce required for our food services into the community and schools. As a non-funded charity organisation, we rely on the generosity of the public to maintain our services to the vulnerable and disadvantaged. Help us keep our services going as every little bit counts Donate today at: https://www.givenow.com.au/manna #mannaperth #ozharvest #Secondbite #homelessperth #keepusgoing #perthisok OzHarvest SecondBite

07.01.2022 As we all work as a community to deal with the COVID-19 issues at hand, we would like to reassure everyone that Manna Inc. will continue to provide all our regular services as per normal. Our lunch services at Weld Square will continue at the current times with a slightly shorter service to minimise the potential risks. Our Manna Kids Program schools will also receive their weekly supplies as per normal. We have taken extra precautionary measures to ensure the safety of all o...ur clients, volunteers and staff in accordance to the guidelines provided by the Department of Health WA, and will continue to maintain and update protocols are they go along. During these tough times, may we all remember that for many of our clients who are already vulnerable the current situation puts them in a much worser position and many have no access to the basic requirements that we should have to keep ourselves safe. Many of them are homeless and have no access to washing facilities or have a safe environment to protect themselves. Please email us at [email protected] if you can help in anyway or if you require any further information.
