20.01.2022 For over 30 years, Variety - the Children's Charity of Queensland has been empowering Aussie kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs, to live, laugh and learn. The Manning's family have a long association with the charity, raising countless funds over the years and participating in many a Variety Bash with many a story to tell. Undoubtedly, one of the most iconic entries from just a few years back (haha) was 'The Flying Pie' pictured below. What will we come up with next?! Ideas anyone? ~ if it's not a Manning's 'Flying Pie', ask why? ~

20.01.2022 Staff Shout Out! Love Manning’s Pies, love Karli Manning. Karli is integral in the running of the business, ‘doing a bit of everything’ as she puts it.... Growing up, she earned her pocket money by coming into the factory at night with her dad, Dennis during school holidays and putting tops on the pies. At age 14, she began working in the takeaway shop, and for over 10 years now has been doing the bookkeeping. She still helps out in the factory when needed, to help bake, slice and pack the bread, or even to help maintain the machines. It’s a lot of work, but it’s pretty cool being a part of a family business that has been going for over 80 years! Karli loves it when customers come in and talk about getting pies when they were younger, especially some of the older customers who remember buying pies from Uncle Hec on the pie bike. If she had to choose a favourite pie it would be roast beef, or corned beef & white sauce. And try keeping her away from the bread when it first comes out of the oven! Yum! Karli is dedicated to the business and in any time off she manages to have she loves to travel (although that’s not going to happen again anytime soon ) so spending time with friends and family, just relaxing is where you’ll find her.

And... Our Manning's Pies van regularly parked outside the Imperial Hotel on the corner of Shields and Abbott St. Judith Jennings
