22.01.2022 CLUBROOM PROJECT Some huge news has been developing over the last month. After some major hurdles it looks as if our new clubrooms are on track. After creating a strong alliance with the Athletics Club, we have managed to have Council sign-off on a new clubrooms facility on the hill at the corner of George and Victoria Streets looking over the grounds. It will be a modular building, built off-site and transported in, and we are looking at a likely completion date of May 202...1. While the floorplans are still being finalised before the project will go out to tender, the agreed approach from the club and the council is that the facility will be split level with 4 change rooms, umpires rooms and amenities at the bottom (car park level). Above that with entrance at the George Street level will be a social room with kitchen, amenities and a decking to view the grounds from. The gravel car parks will remain in front of this area and to the left to ensure we have plenty of close parking space for both grounds. Over the coming years the council has also committed to realigning both pitches to ensure our boundaries do not overlap, and to install a new fence around the George Street end of the grounds The committee is very excited at what we will see in the near future. Not only will it be an upgrade to facilities for playing cricket, it promises to be a great place to watch cricket from, socialise after games and to hold functions where our club can get together (trivia nights, awards night and many more!). There will be some activities during this season that we will be running to help furnish the rooms and make it the one of the best social facilities you will see in local cricket. A big thank you to Councillor Dot Haynes who has been a wonderful supporter of the project for many years. Below are some preliminary drawings subject to costings presented by the Council:

21.01.2022 Happy Birthday to Asad Junior Ahmed, quick bowling and big sixes

21.01.2022 THE SEASON AHEAD After the Victorian Governments roadmap announcement, we are getting an idea of what our cricket season may look like. If average daily cases reduce to the levels indicated in the roadmap, we would be looking at October 26 to start training again, with a likely return to play date in mid-November. This would be the same for Juniors and Seniors and of course there will be many modifications that we may need to make to make playing COVID Safe. We will be guide...d Cricket Victoria and government on this. The latest from the BHRDCA (where 1st, 2nd and 3rd XI play) is: As it stands right now, and assuming the health metrics are met, the following looks likely: 1. Outdoor training can resume October 26, exact size of group(s) are to be determined 2. Matches will commence November 14 The working party of 7 club presidents and the CoM met during the week and determined: A. Play will commence on Saturday November 14, under the assumption health metrics are met and the rules of the day allow B. The season will consist of 14 one day games, there will be no two day cricket C. 80 and 70 over grades only will be offered (as in 40 overs per side and 35 overs per side grades) Junior cricket will be aiming for the same start date pending further information and understanding they can probably cope with less pre season. Juniors are a little different from a fixturing perspective with the need to work more closely with RDCA & ECA. Veterans cricket is to be advised but will take a strong lead from Saturday afternoon cricket in terms of timing See more

21.01.2022 See details from BHRDCA where our 1st, 2nd and 3rd XIs play, we will wait for advice from the ECA (4th XI) and the VSCA (5th XI) but suggest dates wil be similar

11.01.2022 For those within Manningham, we thought we'd let you know of two people running for Council this month who have been instrumental in helping our new clubrooms project get over the line. Dot Haynes has been a champion of the project for years and listened to us when we struck trouble with it and helped us immensely. She is standing again. Darryl Kilmartin is the Secretary of the Doncaster Athletics Club and has worked hand in hand with us to get the best results for our clubs and the community. Click to learn about these two have been integral to recent developments with the club. https://www.facebook.com/Vote1Darryl/

06.01.2022 MANNINGHAM CRICKET CLUB ALL CRICKET. ALL CULTURES. ONE CLUB. All Cricket In todays society we realise the old model for cricket clubs of multiple teams playing the same two-day format, training two nights a week with all striving to play in the 1st XI is a thing of the past for many demographics. So its our objective to provide All Cricket that caters for a variety of needs. This year, and going forward, we will aim to provide a cross section of cricket so there is a pl...ace for everyone to play: our Two Day/One Day First XI Shield team (Saturday) Split Innings Two Day/One Day 2nd XI (Saturday) One Day 3rd and 4th XI (Saturday) Sunday One Day 5th XI Mid-week Twenty20 cricket (if enough interest) Junior cricket Friday night or Saturday morning options We will also strive to create a senior and/or junior female team over the next 4 years this will be an important step that we can take with new clubrooms. All Cultures The names that played at Rieschiecks Reserve from the 70s to the 80s changed, from all Anglo names to many Greek, Italian and Chinese names added to the mix. The club embraced that and got stronger. In the 2010s the club has similarly embraced the influx of migrant families and students from the sub-continent. A large proportion of the of the club is now made up of people from those backgrounds. Today we have a 3rd XI that is primarily made up of players from the Ismaili Muslim community, a 4th XI that is made up of many Greek names, and a 5th XI that is made up of players from a Pakistani background. These cultures along with Peshwar, Indian, Sri Lankan and Italian background-players populate the other teams along with Anglo background players. We understand that different cultural backgrounds have different organised cricket experience. We provide a welcoming attitude and understanding of people from all backgrounds that want to play the game. We hold regular food theme social nights that showcase these cultures too. One Club Despite the variety of cricket and the variety of cultures we are one club. We are Manningham and we represent the variety of cultures we have today and our history which goes back more than 60 years. While we play different forms of cricket we all celebrate our success collectively as one club. Collectively we should all try to understand the history of the club and the way each player and team today plays their part in that history continuing. Our cricket aim is to have as many people playing for our club as possible, and then to win games and premierships. Our social aim is for all players and their families to mix together and foster friendships after each time we play or train. Both of these aims will assist the others and with a new or refurbished clubrooms coming in the next 12 months we will be able to be one club in much better surrounds for players and their families.

06.01.2022 The 6th XI Twenty20 team has its first game tomorrow night - we are playing Heatherdale at home, the bar and canteen will be open for spectators. Game starts at 5:15pm, but players will need to be there earlier, chat to captain Eddie for details.
