22.01.2022 Hi everyone, Hope this winter hasn't been too cruel for you, Spring just around the corner. Can't wait to get out into the garden. Winter, we spend mostly in doors, of course it is a time to rug up and keep warm. Unfortunately all those comforting foods show their presence as well, Yuk. Manningham Council is starting a walking group, for those that are interested. Don't forget the next MITCH AGM on August 31st and the Council. Hope to see many of you there. 17.01.2022 Hello viewers, I along with several other carers attended a Forum a couple of weeks ago in regards to getting prepared for the NDIS. The forum was run by a very informative lady named Sue who is also a parent with a daughter with a disability. For those in attendance, we all came out feeling a lot more empowered and less confused about the process. Sue has a website "idareu.org.au" - her email is [email protected]. Very appropriately this stands for :- Inspiring people with Disabilities through Awareness, Resources, Empowerment and Unity. I will let you all know when the next forthcoming Forum will be. 06.01.2022 Not that I am in anyway biased but I do have the most amazing granddaughter in the world. So on this International Day of People with Disability http://www.idpw...d.com.au/ I have written her a poem. Love from Pa My little granddaughter at the age of three Recited the periodic table back to me She grew and developed with a spirit so free But now they say she has a disability Now that she’s almost seven there are questions asked Why she can’t always focus when given a task But some don’t consider if the task that they ask Is their power and control just wearing a mask Creative enquiry, imagination and dance But not too much stimulation gives her a chance To build castles, fly spaceships, explore universal expanse Given choices she’ll even take an ethical stance Sometimes help is needed when faced with hostility Encouragement helps when learning civility I am her Pa and I stress with humility When it comes to my Munchkin: Don’t dis her ability
