Champion jockey Corey Brown is once again supporting his home town cup by attending the Wingham Cup race meeting on Monday 7 June at Manning Valley Race Club (Taree) as well as being a guest at the Wingham Cup Calcutta being held at the Wingham Services Club at 7pm Sunday 6 June said Executive Officer of Manning Valley Race Club, Helen Sinclair. The Wingham Cup has a long history and is an integral part of the Manning Valley Race Clubs racing programme. Held in June each year it is supported by businesses and the community of Wingham. 01.01.2022 By Neil Evans The record doesn't look flash, but the best is yet to come, and Tuesday's feature Manning Valley meeting at Taree looms as an ideal starting point. Powerfully built four-year-old Landstrasse returns for the smart Greg McFarlane stable at Gosford for his first run since mid May in a Class 1 Hcp over 1400m.... The once Godolphin-trained gelded son of former champion juvenile Sepoy hasn't won since his maiden success at Kembla more than a year ago, but showed plenty across tougher races in a brief first prep for the McFarlane stable in autumn, and he threatens to return even better this time around. Landstrasse finished off smartly in an open trial at Gosford after sitting back off the speed. He worked through the line only finishing behind high class sprinter and Ramornie winner Signore Fox who has since resumed with a nice closing run in the Group 2 Theo Marks at Rosehill on Saturday. Landstrasse showed good potential beyond a mile in his early three-year-old days, and is capable of running very strong closing sectionals off a good tempo. McFarlane has found a nice starting point, although rival four-year-olds Forever Jude and Manhattan Whirl, and seven-year-old Legendofoz, all come out of a handy Class 1 race at Muswellbrook. Meanwhile, another promising four-year-old resuming is Wyong mare Toguchi who returns off a seven month spell in a Maiden Hcp (1300m) with key gear changes. Toguchi showed plenty in her first prep, consistently in the placings amongst stronger company, and has two steady trials under her belt. And completing a trio of resuming four-year-olds, all with bigger targets on the radar, Rosehill-based mare Vox Populi tackles a Class 1 Hcp (1000m) with no public trials, but reportedly in good shape, and boasting a sound fresh record.
