22.01.2022 I love a good recycling challenge As Mannum Town Coordinator for Lids4Kids I will accept all lids, even the ones that the Lids4Kids project can’t use. I also represent the Mid Murray Council area so may be able to pick up from towns in this area. There is always a use for these things so if you have collected lids or you would like to, contact Joy on 0418 224 810... So these spinning tops came out quite good I thought and may be a fun project for the kids.

18.01.2022 Welcome to Stage 1 I have been adding a few new items to the shop, marked some of the jewellery items to FREE and taken $5 off all Biggles collectable books until the end of Stage 1 Most items can be posted Australia wide, all items can be delivered locally or picked up by arrangement and preferred method of payment is PayPal - [email protected]... 13.01.2022 Things are looking bright in South Australia! With some restrictions lifting on Monday 11 May 2020 I have decided to start taking lids for a trial period so if you have been saving your lids during lockdown now is the time to get them out of your house! This is the only collection point opening up in and around Mannum at this stage, I will update you as other collection points open up.... Please follow the guidelines below: All lids MUST BE WASHED and DRY prior to drop off or pick up Lids must be in a container (plastic bag, box etc) Lids may be dropped at 49 Lovers Lane Mannum, there is a pink bin at the entry (please do not enter the property) If the container of lids does not fit in the bin provided, leave next to the bin and text 0418 224 810 so they can be taken inside ASAP If you prefer you lids to be picked up please text the above number to organise (this is the preferred method for Mannum residents) Thank you very much for collecting for Lids4Kids Australia

09.01.2022 It has definitely been strange times lately and I think going forward it may change the way we recycle, just like a lot of other things will change. While things have been quiet I have started putting together some "It's in The Bag" items using some handbags that have been donated. It doesn't look like Share the Dignity are quite ready for physical donations and I hope they are soon but in the meantime there are other ways to help.... However, with some restrictions lifting on Monday Joys Jazzy Junk will start up some recycling efforts again including collecting for Lids4Kids Australia. Keep your eyes peeled tomorrow for a post about what my plans are

08.01.2022 Anyone visiting the Mannum LPO may have noticed that we have been putting some goodies on their counter to help the Mannum CFS raise funds for a Thermo Imaging Machine. Tracey mentioned this week that some customers would like to donate their loose change so we are leaving the donation tin at the Post Office permanently now and we will change out the goodies for sale. All items offered for sale are donated to us by individuals and businesses who know that our main ambition is to help avoid landfill, so pop down and grab a "Beaded Bag Tag" while stocks last

07.01.2022 Don't feel blue, Lids4Kids Australia volunteers are still sorting lids behind the scenes. If you are in the Mid Murray area you can still save your lids and when this pandemic is over a volunteer will collect your lids. All lids must be cleaned before they are accepted.... 06.01.2022 I know most of my friends are "Team Save the Planet" don't get me wrong, so am I, but we can't save the Planet if we don't save the Planet right So today's re...purposing tip is this: Grab some non bacterial wipes, like Huggies baby wipes or the ones you use for your bottom ;) Take them out of the packet and place in a clean container and pour a cup or two of hand sanitiser over them until they soak it up. It wont take long! Then put the wipes into ziplock bags and you can either take the wipes straight out of the ziplock bag as you need them or you can save the little plastic flap and fashion your own wipes packet. When I am at home I do use cloth, paper towel and sprays etc but wipes are an excellent idea for the car, I know a Paramedic who gave me the tip to wipe over frequently touched surfaces in your car often. So these are great for front line health workers who need to travel and to wipe your own car and items you buy from the supermarket (after people with gloves have touched everything ) So don't hate over wipes just yet, lets beat the virus then concentrate on beating landfill <3

04.01.2022 ***IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT*** Effective immediately, all public collection of plastic bottle lids will be TEMPORARILY suspended until further notice. Please Shar...e. I have discussed the risk and public health impacts of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) with all of our Lids4Kids Regional Coordinators. As a National Team, we have decided to be pro-active and put YOUR safety and the safety of all of our volunteers first. COVID-19 is now in Australia and is spread through contaminated droplets on hands, surfaces or objects. The virus can live up to NINE DAYS on plastic and metal in some environments. The time between when a person is exposed to the virus and when symptoms first appear is typically 5 to 6 days, although may range from 2 to 14 days. We are asking that ALL Public Collection Points TEMPORARILY cease collections. We will resume collections once the Australian health authorities have determined that the risk has been reduced. For those with existing collections, PLEASE DO NOT throw your rescued lids in the bin! Simply wash, dry, sort and box them and put them in storage for now. Please contact your local Town Coordinator to see if they're willing to accept your existing stock of washed lids. We DO NOT advise that you collect any new lids from public areas in the meantime. Public health and safety is our number one priority. Many of our community volunteers are in at-risk age groups and/or have health conditions that mean that they are immuno-compromised.
