15.01.2022 Another fun weekend racing in the SEK QLD championship, running clockwise at the Warick Kart Club; which is reverse direction. We worked out a good set up on the Friday practice and the kart was feeling good. Being quite new to karting, this has been something we are still learning to feel and set up based on how it steers as we move track to track. We had a good clean race on the Saturday 1hr, placing 3rd in class with a combination of improved pace from last time out and ...things going our way throughout the race. Sunday was the 7 hour enduro, we settled in well and were fighting for 3rd in class all day while running a different strategy than normal and changing it on the fly to gain track position where we could. Unfortunately the axel snapped at around 94km/hr just as I went to brake at the end of the straight. Not too sure why it broke as we have been conscious of keeping it off curbs but it may have had a crack at some stage and it decided to end our day 4.5hrs into the 7hr race. Now we got our poor Kart back to the pits and without a spare axel it was our day finished... until Kent from Team Omega 47, came over with their spare axel and 4 extra sets of hands. Well the tools came out and all 6 of us replaced the axel in time to get us back out, complete our final compulsory fuel and pit stops and we were classified for a race finish and collected some points!!!. Really can’t thank team omega and everyone who got in and helped to get us home. Such a great group of racers that don’t give an inch on track but will almost do anything to help when it’s needed most. We’ll rebuild our very worse for wear kart and be at the last round in Toowoomba to do it all again in November.
