25.01.2022 Oh the good old days of dress up runs. Hope you are all still being active!
25.01.2022 Hi All I hope everyone is doing well, keeping safe and of course washing our hands and social distancing. I've been lucky enough to wave to a few parkrunners during early mornings while out having a run or walk. This week we have another fabulous bio provided by one of our regulars. Mick is one of the many parkrunners in the frontline of what is happening with Covid-19 and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for the service to the community he and his colleagues pro...vide. Please don't forget, we would love to feature you. Email or message us with your story and we will include. Next instalment will be about our fantastic Di! Lisa P.S. - where's my mention Mick??? ;-0 _______________________________________ Name - Mick First parkrun - Rockhampton Dec'16 Why Parkrun? - my mother inlaw said I was getting fat and My sister dragged my to the Rocky parkrun and it was a rude shock how unfit I'd become as I got older. how many ?- 103 runs 20 volunteers Fav Role?- Tail Walker, I can volunteer with my son, Louis and it counts as a volunteer and a run. Favourite tourist parkrun- East Coast Singapore and Berlin, two scenic and historic locations What’s special about Mansfield? - the community spirit and inclusion of EVERYONE is so supportive and welcoming and Mansfield's very own Marty Mckern is always so encouraging and always the first to cheer on someone he makes mansfield ( I may have a man crush on him) Thing parkrun has taught me? - anything is possible if you work hard, but everyone is an athlete, but have a crack Mansfield QLD parkrun
24.01.2022 Two sleeps till parkrun day. Don't forget your barcode. Don't forget to check in either at home or with your phone at Tillack Park. And if you feel unwell, please give it a miss and stay home.
23.01.2022 For those building the distance in isolation and looking to keep your shoes fresh, parkrun sponsor The Athlete's Foot Mt Gravatt are still trading during the CoVid shutdown. We were scheduled to have the Mt Gravatt team do a run day at parkrun this coming weekend, after doing one for us in 2019 also. The Athlete's Foot Mt Gravatt Run Club helped many of our runners pre-CoVid also. I'm sure we'll see Luke and the team once this tough time is over.
22.01.2022 Mansfield parkrun Event 141 After a 37 week shutdown for COVID (our last event was 13 March), this week 207 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 38 were first timers and 31 recorded new Personal Bests. Mansfield joined over 100 other Qld parkruns restarting today! Thanks to all who made the event social and special.... Watch out for a story on channel 7 news tonight where Mansfield participants will be featured after a channel 7 camera person spent the day at our event this morning interviewing walkers and runners (this story will cover all of Qld’s 100+ parkruns restarting; our event was chosen for the channel 7 vision and interviews). The event was made possible by 10 volunteers: Antony GRAF John ROUNDHILL Frances THOMPSON Diane BALLARD Martin MCKERN Lisa MCKERN Jana GRAF Christie JENKINS Vicki BRYANT Jane PETTIGREW We have a few vacant volunteer slots for next week (photographer, token sorting, second barcode scanner); and other slots available till January also. Please see our online roster and message or email us if you can help. Http://www.parkrun.com.au/mansfieldqld/futureroster For anyone who missed the QR code check in today at parkrun, please could you go to http://parkrun.com/trace/69M Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Mansfield parkrun, Queensland Results Page. Our record: Mansfield parkrun, Queensland started on 15th July 2017. Since then 3,522 participants have completed 18,271 parkruns covering a total distance of 91,355 km, including 2,867 new Personal Bests. A total of 348 individuals have volunteered 1,468 times. Have a wonderful weekend and week from the team at Mansfield parkrun.
22.01.2022 Happy Weekend parkrun family! As we all relax into school holiday time, and another weekend of covid-19 shutdown, first and foremost all the team from Mansfield parkrun wish for everyone to be healthy and managing to find fun in the midst of this remarkable period. Whilst we must remain responsible with good social distancing and not exercise in groups, for anyone missing their Saturday parkrun or looking to spice up their exercise or social interaction (virtually) we have so...me ideas for you. 1) parkrun freedom runs. For those that don't already know about it, parkrun has always had the ability for you to do the parkrun on your own and in your own time and record a "freedom run" to your parkrun record. The mansfield course is actually marked with some subtle green spray paint arrows at each of the turn around points, as well as dots for each km marker. Run the course on your own (please not Sat 7am - we don't want a reputation!) and record a freedom run. https://www.parkrun.com.au//20/02/15/parkrun-freedom-runs/ 2) Strava - Look out for the Mansfield Qld parkrun Group and Mansfield Qld parkrun segment. www.strava.com is a free social media site, that also has phone apps, for logging exercise and connecting on line. Many of our park runners and pretty much all our run directors are already on strava - you can jump on too - and look to connect with us and each other on strava. You can encourage others in their exercise and get encouragement on yours: walking, bike riding, swimming, running all count. If you look at the mansfield qld parkrun segment you can add your name to the people who've done the course today, this week, this year. You could also join the mansfield qld parkrun club and be on our weekly leaderboard. https://www.strava.com/segments/15338210 https://www.strava.com/clubs/mansfieldqld-parkrun 3) Teddy Bear Hunt - You could go on a teddy bear hunt, or you could put a bear in the window for others. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-52108765 4) Submit a park runner profile like Dec and also Kaylee have done. We know we have lots of diversity in our parkrunners and we'd love to hear your story. You might have other ideas. Post them here! 20.01.2022 All parkrun events in Australia and New Zealand have been suspended with immediate effect due to the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation. At this stage we have cancelled events up to the end of March. 19.01.2022 Congratulations on 200 parkruns!
18.01.2022 What do you get the parkrun that already has everything?..... permanent signage..... With parkrun on COVID Hiatus, it's looking increasingly likely that we will need a belated celebration of our 3rd birthday (anniversary date is 18 July, but it's unlikely parkrun will be back then). Fear not - Brisbane City Council has placed Mansfield's parkrun course in a pilot program of just 2 locations (Mansfield & Kelvin Grove) to get new permanent signage. For eagle eye'd course watche...rs you would have already noticed some new spray paint with some minor movement of the first turn around and the 1km - 4km markers as the course has been professionally re-measured. Within the next week or so you should see the permanent markers painted onto the paths, and a new start/finish upright sign go up. There's no parkrun branding on any of them, but be assured our team have been involved by Sarah the council Project Manager every step of the way. This has included our team providing the course map, description of our lovely, shaded out and back course with its genteel slopes, riding the course with the sign contractor and professional measurer, and location of all the turn points and start / finish points. It is a great thing for our course! We'll post pictures of the new signage over the coming weeks. The photos attached are artists impressions, and the mark out for the slightly moved km measurements. We might also be calling out for volunteers to get runner photos as the council media team celebrates the installation.
17.01.2022 Event number 130, 14th March 2020 We had a great turnout of 186 runners at parkrun today. It was a cooler morning with lots of dew about. 25 runners set a new PB, Owen Dave lead the way in with PB of 19:33. First female across the line was Jude Waldburger and we had 29 first timers. Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Mansfield parkrun, Queensland Results Page. www.parkrun.com.au/mansfieldqld.... A big thank you to all our volunteers Daniel John, Caleb Rathjen, Maaike Suson O’Connor, Bjorn Vandenberghe, Lori Marshall, Roger and Debbie Dapkewitch & Martin McKern. Without you, parkrun would not have been the success it was. We are still looking for another Barcode Scanner for the 21 & 28 March, so please check your calendar and see if you can help. There are many spots not filled for April, you can always check out the online roster and let us know when you can help. www.parkrun.com.au/mansfieldqld/futureroster. Health and COVOD-19: Until further notice we are still holding parkrun events, we do ask that if you are not well, or you come into contact with someone that has the virus to have the week off. You can stay up to date about what is going on by checking our facebook page and the parkrun website .https://www.parkrun.com.au/mansfieldqld/ Have a great weekend, we are looking forward to see you back at parkrun next week. Matt and Neville.
16.01.2022 One thing I’m missing when out & about exercising...is patting all the puppies! Show us photos of our Mansfield parkrun pups!!
16.01.2022 Come join the team at Mansfield parkrun for our CoVid safe restart. Some things have changed (we’ll be organising things a bit simpler, we have permanent signage now, we have some CoVid safe steps). Some things haven’t (all are welcome, you can walk - dance - run: that’s up to you, volunteers are our heroes and participation is the aim). Lock in the date, print out your barcode, and contact us if you can help volunteer. You might need to click on the photo to see the text.... (whatever happens Marty... don’t go to 2020)
15.01.2022 For anyone that missed the seven news story on the return of parkrun last Saturday evening, featuring runners from Mansfield parkrun Saturday 28 Nov 2020. We’ll be back in the park this coming Saturday, 7am.
15.01.2022 Hi awesome parkrunians, As we continue to maintain our social distance I’ve come up with a challenge. Calling any local sprinters. We have a strava segment near our parkrun which is currently held by a runner from Melbourne. While we are in lockdown why not have a go and see If we can reclaim this for a local.
15.01.2022 Hey Mansfield! Was lovely to see so many of you out and about this morning. How are you all?
13.01.2022 Happy Weekend Mansfield parkrunners. We have another parkrunner profile - Diane Ballard. Thanks Di for sending in your parkrun story. If you enjoy Di's we'd love some more to post. Please copy the Q's in Dec, Kaylee, Mick, Di's post and provide a photo you like. --------- Name: My name is Diane and here's my view on parkrun from someone who is definitely at the "back of the pack".... Why parkrun?: I started doing "parkrun" although for me its frequently a walk, jog, or spilt of both on 13th Feb 2016. I have completed a total of 88 parkruns across 12 locations including touristing intrastate, interstate and internationally (my goal for 2018). I have also volunteered at parkrun 29 times. My favourite role is tail walker but I also volunteered a lot when suffering from plantar fasciitis. During this time, barcode scanner was my favourite so I could get to know people's names. Following my recovery from injury my main goals for parkun have been 1. Show up 2. Finish the course 3. Do it in under an hour. Sometimes I don't get the 3rd goal completed but I love that I get up early, get dressed, spend time outside and socialise, all before the rest of my household wakes up. How many?: 88 parkruns, 12 different courses, 29 volunteers Favourite tourist parkrun?: My favourite aspect of parkrun is the people and connections. I'm so grateful my best friend introduced me to this sub-culture group in our society 4 years ago. I don't have people in my life that prioritise fitness. While I'm bigger (aka fatter) and slower, parkrun isn't about size or speed or fitness level, its about having a space where everyone comes together and does their 5km. What's special about Mansfield?: At Mansfield parkrun, we go for a coffee afterwards and I get to connect with "normal" people, having "normal problems" and I get to feel "normal" as well. Thanks to parkrun organisers and volunteers for providing this space where people from all walks of life can connect with others that want to prioritise their health....even if they are at the back of the pack.
13.01.2022 Please remember to check in for Mansfield parkrun. You can do this at home before parkrun, using this link, or you can bring your phone to parkrun and check in there. Volunteers are also needed for the next few weeks - why not have a go at volunteering? All roles are easy and you will be made very welcome. Sign up roster will be on the picnic table on Saturday morning. See you at parkrun.

10.01.2022 Any park runners lose something this morning down at Tillack? Update: AirPods are home safe and sound! Being charged for another run tomorrow?
09.01.2022 Just one sleep till parkrun restarts. Before or on arrival please can all attendees (volunteers, parkrunners, spectators) register with the Mansfield Qld contact tracing site. This can be accessed by the QR code which will be around the parkrun, or by going to http://parkrun.com/trace/69M Some other changes to watch for: - Lookout for our new permanent BCC signage. As part of the professional course measurement our first turn around has extended around 5-10 metres to the midd...le of the path. Please keep left on the turn. - We’re simplifying things. Our start and finish chutes are now cones not ropes. Barcoding is in the finish chute and contactless. Our pre event briefing is also shortened, and photos will be just on the run out (less photos; while we’re all heading out looking good!). - We need participants to take note of our CoVid framework below: social distance, sorry no high fives or handshakes, and please stay home if unwell. Please check in with the QR code before parkrun or as you arrive and sorry but our key holding board is on hiatus. - We’re three now! (We had a birthday in the break. If you want to dress up to celebrate that’d be welcomed; but unfortunately we don’t have cake - just a wonderful video on Facebook - scroll down). What’s unchanged: - Please bring your barcode - All are welcome: walk, run, skip, dance - Volunteers are our heroes, our roster is online (www.parkrun.com.au/Mansfieldqld/futureroster ) and on the table. - Participation rather than speed is the key. There are milestone shirts you can earn for junior 10, 50, 100 & 250 parkrun’s as well as 25 volunteers. - (Short) first timers briefing happens at 6:50am, with (short) main event safety briefing just before 7am sharp start. - Please bring your smile; or if you forget it, we’ll provide one when you arrive. We're looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
09.01.2022 A little late, but The Ducks attended Mansfield parkrun on Saturday. Here’s a little video from the morning. https://youtu.be/thlzaJlAods Please feel free to share.
08.01.2022 Happy 3rd Birthday Mansfield Qld parkrunners! We’re super proud of the signs Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner & Cr Ryan Murphy gave us for our Birthday. The RD team can’t wait for everyone to be back together again. We have lots of fond memories to celebrate, with plenty more in the future. #loveparkrun (Best viewed in 1080P Quality - Top right corner in YouTube)... https://youtu.be/c3djOUquV2Y
08.01.2022 Happy parkrun day everyone! From all the team at Mansfield parkrun we hope everyone is well, and enjoying the first day of COVID restrictions easing a little (and cooler, PB weather). We have another runner / walker profile. We’d love to see yours also. Message us - and have a great long weekend! -... Name - Martin First parkrun Mar 2016 Why parkrun?- Wanting to make a healthy lifestyle change and who knew running would let me meet so many of my best friends. how many ?- 144 runs 65 volunteers 61 freedom runs Fav Role?- tokens or photographer . On tokens you get to congratulate everyone by name, and on photographer you are always surprised by all the fun ways people rise for the camera. Favourite tourist parkrun- Have done 17 locations . Wishart is a sentimental favourite as I started there. Main beach is also special as parkrun Australia’s birthplace, it’s relaxed, and the course has every surface including beach views to die for. Hamilton Island was also special - less than 20 runners and Lisa and I were injured and walking then so we had time on the course to enjoy the views throughout the island. What’s special about Mansfield? I’ve always loved the park especially the creek sections, but the friendly community with all ages, from walkers over an hour to speedster at 18 mins, really makes it great. With times of being quick, and others of walking and rehab, I’ve always felt among friends no matter where in the field I am that week. Dress up days are especially fun.
08.01.2022 Event #146 We had 229 runners for our first parkrun for 2021! A big thanks to all the volunteers who made this event happen: Heng, David, Kevin, Anna, Robyn, Frances, John, William, Claire, Isla, and Leanne.... First time volunteers welcome, your run director can give you a quick run down on any position. See you next Saturday!
