14.01.2022 You and your kids are in this holiday thing together, so be kind to yourselves. This article has a heap of useful advice (just switch the term winter holidays to summer!).

14.01.2022 Our team in action at the MARC on Wednesday! We use a play-based approach during our sessions, so while we're playing games and doing horse races, the kids are also building muscle strength, improving their coordination and most of all - HAVING FUN!

13.01.2022 What a way to end 2019! Our Christmas Party at King's Carnival was a great opportunity for team to have some fun!

09.01.2022 Today's session was something a little different! We focused on life saving skills and rescue techniques, including using everyday objects as either a flotation or rescue device in the event of emergency. Our swimmers also wore regular clothing rather than bathers; that in itself was a challenge for our sensory members! The reason for today's session is critical, as drowning is the leading cause of death among children with autism. As such, we aim to run life saving and rescue sessions at least once per term.

08.01.2022 What would an end of year team celebration be without a trophy presentation?! Special thanks once again to Paralympic champion Josh Hofer, for joining us to present the kids with their trophies. You are truly a massive inspiration to us all!

07.01.2022 Shout out to The Good Print Shop for creating personalised water bottles for our team members! Such a great Christmas present, thank you so much. Head on over to their page for premium iron-ons, labels, decals, acrylic signs and other gifts :)

01.01.2022 The world needs all kinds of minds. This TED Talk, by Temple Grandin, provides an amazing insight into the mind of a person with ASD. Her description of individuals on the autism spectrum having different ways of thinking (i.e. photo-realistic visual thinkers; pattern thinkers who view things spatially; verbal thinkers; etc.) is truly fascinating. For anyone unfamiliar with Temple Grandin, the 2010 bio-pic (starring Clare Danes), gives an insight into her life.

01.01.2022 A very happy 17th birthday to one of our amazing swimmers, Max! You are an absolute super star, and we are so proud of how much you've accomplished.

01.01.2022 MANTA RAYS SWIM TEAM HONOURS RAY GIBBETT Ray Gibbett, our Voluntary Treasurer, passed away on Wednesday 29 April 2020. We are so very grateful to him for keeping our accounts for almost 20 years. He was hard working, dedicated and sincere. He always had the interests of the club at heart. Sick as he was at the hospice, he kept asking about how Manta Rays was going. He also worked as Voluntary Treasurer for multiple organisations in Mandurah MADSAR (Mandurah Disabled Support... & Recreation Respite Inc), Mandurah Scouts, and Peel Pottery. He made a significant contribution to the Mandurah Community, and he will be dearly missed. It was his 88th birthday on 13 April. He became very sick that night, was admitted in hospital. He went downhill very quickly as he had advanced, multiple health issues. Our sincerest condolences to Ray's family and friends. He is pain free now. May your soul rest in peace Ray.
