18.01.2022 Fun Fact! Did you know in Australia theres 1.3 million ceiling fans installed each year? I regularly get clients ask whats the difference between a $120 fan and a $400 fan. Theres a few key differences that make a huge impact on how well a ceiling fan works. ... 1- In home warranty - This means if the fan fails, breaks down or the light stops working the manufactures electrician will fix or replace it free of charge for a period of 2-3 years. With cheap fans although they have return warranty youll need an electrician to disconnect and reconnect a new fan (generally at around $150-$200 cost) 2- quieter motors 3- far higher airflow 4- brighter, energy efficient dimmable Led globes 5- better quality remotes 6- faster install times (cheaper labour costs) 7- Far more aesthetically pleasing 8- polycarbon blades that dont deteriorate or sag 9- better connection and mounts so less risk of them wobbling and becoming noisy over time. Old switchboards are one of the leading causes of house fires due to loose worn out connections which eventually get hot and melt.... Secondly if you don’t have new safety switches on all your power and lighting circuits there is no protection from electric shock for you and your family. 08.01.2022 Smoke Alarms save homes and lives. Here are some things to help make sure you and your family are safe. 1. Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years. (Smoke alarms have an active component that eventually breaks down and reduces their effectiveness)... 2. Test your smoke alarm regularly by pressing the push/test button. 3. Its best to have your smoke alarms interconnected so that if one goes off they all do. 4. For the hard of hearing, visual alarms can also be installed. The law in Western Australia requires the owner of a dwelling to have compliant smoke alarms installed: prior to the sale or transfer of ownership; where a dwelling is rented under a residential tenancy agreement or made available for such rental; and where a dwelling is made available for hire. 06.01.2022 Heating and cooling tip- Are you using ceiling fans when it's cold?? Ceiling fans have a switch that makes them rotate clockwise or anti clockwise.... Setting them to "winter/clockwise" pushes to warm air near the ceiling down, warming you up! This tip should hopefully help keep you warmer for less money, just dont forget to swap it back as it warms back up.

04.01.2022 Tips for dealing with internet/NBN issues. I often get calls regarding issues with internet speeds/dropouts so I thought i would share some tips on how to deal with your service provider/NBN co. Go through these steps before calling out a sparky or data cabler so you might be able to save yourself some money. 1. Call your provider and let them know your issues first, go through their fault finding and if that doesn't resolve the issue ask them to send out an NBN technician t...o fault find the issue for you, this should not cost you anything. 2. Ask them to pause your billing. If you are having more then a couple of dropouts or issues a day then ask them to pause your billing until the issue is sorted, easier to get them to pause your billing then to get money off them after the fact. 3. Telecommunications ombudsman. If you are unhappy with the service you are being provided from your service provider then contacting the TIO may be the next step to getting the issue resolved. https://www.tio.com.au/making-a-complaint Once you have done these steps, the NBN/service provider may say that the cabling inside your home needs to be inspected by a technician at your cost, this is when you should contact a electrician/registered cabler to test and repair your cabling.
