25.01.2022 A beautiful place to spend my day on this lovely property in Tintenbar. Lots of gardens on a big, manicured block. Duties include pruning, weeding, treating pests disorders and diseases, monitoring health, mulching, nutrition and general tidying. The turf is maintained by another operator using a ride-on mower with a catcher.

25.01.2022 Just a little haircut.

23.01.2022 A 'one off' hedging job I did recently. It's normally done by someone else. Murraya paniculata with a castle cut. It was just a little wooly. It makes it a bigger job when its left too long and the end result is often nowhere near as nice as a regularly trimmed hedge. Murraya can get leggy and loses the inner foliage like most hedging plants. When you want it cut back to size again, it can leave a bare looking hedge. The stems become woody which results in a less clean cut w...ith a hedge trimmer. If its left longer, a pruning saw would be the only option. This one came up ok but I was told it's been near on a year since it was last done. I like to let them grow a bit though to show off the soft feathery foliage with contrasting lighter green colour. Not a favourite plant of mine though due to its weedy nature. There are several better things to use that are native and not an invasive weed like Murraya.

23.01.2022 A lovely Dombeya cacuminum on a customers property. Quite large - perhaps 12m or so. They can grow to 15m. Awesome in flower and great foliage that resembles a maple leaf.

20.01.2022 Murraya paniculata... Hedgeasaurus! ... there's bigger of course but still, 113m long, 3m+ in height - 3.5+ in some places, 3 - 3.5m wide. A very demanding couple of days on this one. The inside of the long hedge had absolutely nowhere to walk along it, as the owners had a horse arena cut out and a steep 2.5m bank dropping from the hedge. The hedge was growing out over bank, so I had to be brutal while cutting myself a path to walk along, getting cut up myself by the freshly... cut woody stems for 80m or so (I love it! No, seriously, I do). I didnt go too hard on the top or front so that it looks nice for Xmas but i wanted to take another 300mm off both. When a Murraya this size gets away for a year or more like this one has, a metre sometimes needs to come off to get back into shape. The stems become thick and woody which results in a poorer cut, leaving an average finish. They need to be done at least every 6 weeks in growing season. Most can get away with one trim during winter though depending on what look the owner likes. It took 15hrs all up on my own (just shy of a full day for 2 people) but 3hrs of that was doing half of inside the long hedge a second time. After realizing I was never going to get it straight while trying to do it from the bottom of the bank, I had to start again at the other end where there's a bit of a ledge to start cutting my path. To make it just a little more challenging... I don't think I can make a pirate "aauuurrgh!" sound in text ... (or can I?) but anyway, it rained most of the time ... heavily... torrential at times. Fun! I still got it done without swearing (spellcheck wants that to be 'sweating' .. There was plenty of that though. Very happy with the result.

11.01.2022 Coronavirus update - I will still be operating during the COVID-19 situation. I can't get it from plants and I very much enjoy my time alone in gardens and caring for properties. I've always been the autonomous type but there are some other steps I'd like to take, just to be sure. If you need a quote, send me photos so I can give an idea of cost and time, or I can visit while you stay inside. I will text the quote, estimate or other info as required. ... We will agree on a time to carry out the work and leave me to it. No physical contact needed at all. Invoices will be emailed or sent via SMS and you can pay directly into my bank account or leave pay outside to be collected. If you have any questions or special requirements, please send a private message. Cheers, Kev Property: Bangalow NSW. Hedge, lawn and garden maintenance. Mantis Garden Magic

09.01.2022 Groundhog Day ... ... did I say I love doing hedges? I have two business names. One is the name of this page of course and the other is Hedgemaster. I don't do dinosaur shapes but I cut accurate spheres and other shapes. Speaking of shapes, the cones weren't to be done on this day but I'm there to do them next week. It's a lovely property in Nashua which is a beautiful part of the Northern Rivers. Here's some before and after photos.

08.01.2022 Clivias for days .. that's only one small section. There's around 300sqm of C.nobilis under all the big trees in gardens that surround the main house block (the trees are mostly local rain forest and other native species but a few exotics - such as a wonderful collection of vireyas). They're mostly in plastic pots and have been for many years apparently but they seem to love it. There's literally hundreds of them. The yellow ones in among them will be on soon (C.miniata).

06.01.2022 Re-laying turf at a regular lawn and garden maintenance gig in Lennox Head. It waa once one of the best Sir Walter lawns I've looked after. The last photo is a 'before' shot. Excavators tore it all up during the course of installing an inground pool and I was given the challenge to restore it to its former beauty. Now a month on and it looks surprisingly good given the dry weather we've had but I don't fancy the customers next water bill.

05.01.2022 Lilly Pilly haircut for LJ Hooker Alstonville. Hard prune to shoulder height from around 3m.

05.01.2022 Hello folks. Just a quick note to say that I'm back on deck after 5 days in hospital due to kidney and uteral stones. I'm a little behind and already was due to the weather over the past month but I will be working hard to catch up. If I haven't spoken to you and you'd like to know what's happening, please do feel free to call me. I wasn't able to get in touch with every customer due to extreme pain management and I'm still a little foggy but I will get to your jobs. Cheers - Kev.
