23.01.2022 #feelgoodfriday Check out @halima instagram story; A muslim model who quit the fashion industry because it compromised who she is and her beliefs. Living authentically takes courage and bravery may we follow her lead and say no to all the things that are not in harmony with our personal values #inspiration #livingauthentically #setthoseboundaries

21.01.2022 We had Rissa in the workroom today "supervising" her mum Jenni and Gowry working on the new tshirt blanks range coming soon. We think she'd make a great Junior Production Manager! #Mantua #bythepeople #tshirt #blanks #australianmade

20.01.2022 Let's talk Pattern Grading! Patterns are initially made in one size only. The process of resizing that pattern is called Grading, which allows you to produce your design into a range of sizes, whilst maintaining your original design in proportion. The art of creating patterns is a highly skilled specialised practice that supports the work of designers and is a vital part of design process that turns sketches into wearable products. Our Training and Production Manager Leah ha...s over 30 years experience in pattern making, she can help you translate your designs into the finished prototype #patterndesign #patterngrading #patterns #fashion #startup #clothinglabel #sizematters

18.01.2022 Happy Mother's Day to all you strong women out there, may we be them, may we know them and may we raise them!

17.01.2022 Meet Gabrielle our new Label Manager annnd Junior Designer for Mantua the label! (More on that later) Originally born in Australia, Gabrielle has lived in the UK for the past 22 years and has just recently graduated from the @lcflondon_ studying Fashion Illustration! Gabrielle has moved back to Australia to be reunited with family but also to join the Mantua team.... We are so blessed to have Gabrielle in the studio, and we can't wait for you all to meet her! #purposedrivenlife #mantuathelabel #comingsoon #StraightOuttaFashionSchool

14.01.2022 Within the space of just under 2 years Mantua has grown from an idea written on a piece of paper to a full blown training and production organisation. From almost closing our doors at the height of the coronavirus pandemic to now being fully booked until the end of the year and having 21+ labels currently on our waiting list for 2021 has been nothing short of a miracle, and for this we feel truly blessed. In the past couple of months we said goodbye to one of our co-founder...s to welcoming a new label manager, to further losing a much loved machinist, to employing our remaining ladies plus a further 3 machinists who will need to be upskilled to be floor ready. Phew! To say that building Mantua is the hardest thing we have ever done is the biggest understatement but also the most rewarding! We know that to whom much is given, much is expected and so we have been working so hard behind the scenes to achieve the things we have set out to achieve. We have a set of values that help us govern our direction and sometimes when you cannot see the forest for the trees or when we lose sight of the bigger picture because we are too focused on the details, trying so hard to make it work we can sometimes lose our way! I say all this because at the end of the day if our team is overworked and run down, Mantua fails to help the ladies from our refugee and migrant community, our labels who partner with us, and @whiteboxenterprises who are our major sponsors and supporters. Making sure our team is ok and looked after is our biggest priority right now and so we have decided to go back to why we started Mantua in the first place which is to create supported and meaningful training and employment opportunities for women who face so many barriers. We are committed to changing the way the industry treats their workers and we can't do this if we are putting extra demands on them to produce. We are also committed to training and upskilling our women and building a strong workforce so that we can service all our amazing ethically minded clients. All we ask during this time is that you please be patient with us as we transition into this new phase. #peopleb4profits

11.01.2022 In the whirlwind that is life right now, we continue on! On a bright note, our fabulous ‘sewers in training’ have now completed the flamingo pouches for our wonderful crowdfunding donors - they are heading your way very shortly! We were so impressed by the skills they’ve developed (that’s their names pinned to the pouches they’ve sewn ) As all businesses and community minded individuals and organisations, we are taking our own steps to ensure we are looking after our team and staying healthy and safe during this time. We will be having limited face to face meetings and contact time, but our production services will continue at full speed! We are always here by email or phone for enquiries and orders.

11.01.2022 When we were planning and dreaming about what Mantua could be we knew we didn't want to be just another production house, we wanted to be more than that, we wanted to be a safe space for our ladies to firstly overcome whatever barriers they were facing to then supporting them to becoming contributing and connected members of their communities by providing a supportive working environment that draws on their skills. The result of which as "Jenni" has put it "we are family" and... just like family we have our ups and downs but at the end of the day we truly care about each other! To the clothing labels who partner with us, we thank you for joining us on this journey in doing our part to changing the way the fashion industry treats its workers and we welcome you into our family. We cant promise it's going to be easy but it will definitely be worth it. And to you the consumer please educate yourself on where your clothes are being made and how the workers are being treated so you can use your purchasing power to encourage ethical practices #weareallinthistogether #wearefamily #whomadeyourclothes #bettertogether #forthepeoplebythepeople #purposedrivenlife #makingitforqld

11.01.2022 This week we said goodbye to one of our co-founders Kim. The self confessed "Template Queen" has been the driving force behind getting Mantua to where we are today! 09.01.2022 Australian designer Edith Rewa popped into the studio to pick up her beautiful hand illustrated silk scarves, showcasing native Australian plants! Thank you Edith for partnering with us to provide employment opportunities for our seamstresses. We took on this job specifically so that our ladies could complete independently. After some training, we are so proud to share that these scarves pictured were exclusively produced by Syeda and Jenni. And boy, don't they look amazing! ... Syeda was in charge of cutting, pressing and quality control and Jenni was responsible for the sewing! #purposedrivenlife #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #australianmade #whomadeyourclothes #makingitforqld #diverstyisourstrength #localbusiness #australianmanufacturing

08.01.2022 #Repost We think @chamani_official_ did a great job of capturing the beautiful joy and love of friendship between our seamstresses Jenni & Gowry My heart is full! Meet Jenni and Gowry... We paid a little visit to our local manufacturing charity today here in sunny Brisbane. It was so lovely to see these incredible, determined ladies in action and to capture this gorgeous moment. They are SO inspiring and their story is too. Jenni and Gowry are two best friends who came to Australia with their families as refugees in the hope of a better, safer life. All they had were a few belongings and each other when they started their new lives here. Coming to a completely foreign country with a foreign language, means it is extremely hard to assimilate into life here in Australia as it is. Being a refugee means they face even greater barriers to fair, dignifying employment and opportunities - making ends meet can be a massive struggle. . It’s SO lovely to be able to support such a beautiful cause where disadvantaged, under-utilised migrant women and particularly refugees, are given a chance to grow and flourish. They are provided with supportive skill-training opportunities and a safe, inspiring, happy work place where they can truly start to feel like they are a part of society. We can’t wait to formally introduce you to our partner charities soon and to share more amazing stories of the women we get to support through our purpose-driven clothing label. . Gowry trying to set the sewing machine up herself for the first time without help. She is giggling with Jenni (standing next to her) as they figure it out together. To add to the beauty of this story, Gowry is deaf but somehow Jenni and her are so connected and support each other through everything. #ohmyheart #ethicalfashion #purposedrivenlife #whomadeyourclothes #forthepeoplebythepeople #friendshipgoals #empoweringwomen #mantuasewingschool

03.01.2022 One of the many talents our Production Manager Leah has is Pattern Making! Any changes to your design such as a change in fabric for example will mean the pattern will have to be altered and can sometimes be a complex and time consuming process. It is easy to think that you can use the same pattern as per the original design, but even a slight difference in the material can lead to differing degrees of shrinkage, drape and give in the final product. Don't run the risk of ...producing ill fitting and unsellable garments! Mantua can help you ensure the perfect styling, fit and functionality for all your designer needs! #PatternMaking #Fabric #Design
