25.01.2022 Been a rough year for everyone and looking forward to getting back to teaching when we can. Despite the circumstances , has been a great opportunity to up-skill and serve our patients even better!

08.01.2022 MRI scan of cupping therapy showing how it clearly creates more space within the body's internal environment not just during but even after its application. By ...increasing space (volume) within the tissues not only is there a physical alteration of mechanical stresses stimulating the fascia and nervous system, creating multimodal responses but there is also a very direct and immediate change in tissue pressure in the form of decompression. This decompression results in an ability for the body to vent from areas of heightened fluid and tissue pressures that are often the result of inflammatory processes through its own transport networks. These changes in hydrostatic pressure also affect oncotic tissue pressures that heighten the tissue filteration rate beyond that of what our kidneys are capable of, literally detoxifying our bodies. In my 2016 interview on BBC national news a so called expert claimed that, at best, cupping was nothing more than placebo. It fascinates me how so many people who claim to be science based deny the fact that: Volume = Pressure This is basic science & has wide implications in tissue physiology. Unfortunately it is not that people cant see the truth. It is that they do not want to. People respond automatically and defensively to information that threatens their ideological worldview. This is particularly applicable to people who have built their careers & livelihoods from drug/surgery based medical sick care models. So the next time someone you care about and trust responds extremely aggressively, defensively and/or irrationality to a new thought, idea, technique or approach. Just remember that its a primative response inbuilt within them to protect there psychological foundations & that they are wired too deep for your suggestion to change. Don't take it personally. #cupping #hijama #myofascia #myofascialdecompression #cuppingtherapy #naturopathy #fascia #icaht #chiropractic #mri #massagetherapy #rehanilitation #leicester #science #bbcnews @ ICAHT Centre of Integrative Medicine

01.01.2022 On this edition of Wannabe educators not even bothering to look for research we tackle a myth that quite literally has nothing to do with us (kind-of). I... mean, it’s about our profession, and evidence-based practice, and not being able to willfully lie in the allied health field, but Three ridiculous debate tactics are being used to support this myth. MYTH #1. Trigger points don’t exist if you believe that, I suppose you also believe that the Earth is flat, global warming is a hoax, Darwin was an idiot, and chemistry is the thing that happens between couples when they first meet. MYTH #2. Systematic reviews are the highest form of evidence. We have covered this in so many posts, it is getting a little ridiculous, but essentially systematic reviews are critique of original research and not research itself, they are secondary sources that should reflect the body of evidence, and cannot, if done well, contradict the body of evidence. They should exist separate the levels of evidence and be considered the same level of evidence of a good textbook or our courses at the Brookbush Institute (which include review) MYTH #3. Active is better than passive. I don’t know who came up with this quote, but they should be dragged out back, and #Rocktape should be placed over their mouth, and they should be forced to spend 2 hours attempting to find any evidence of the ridiculous garbage that was about to come out of their mouth next. Again, there is literally no evidence to support this quote. In fact, we have cited several studies (in our courses) that demonstrate when done alone, dry needling, ischemic compression, mobilizations or manipulations are more effective than active exercise or conventional physiotherapy alone. Please don’t troll me on this we have also cited studies to demonstrate and support the far more effective integrated practice. We are continually working to build the best evidence-based, systematic outcome driven approach possible. This includes the optimal combination of effective techniques chosen on the basis of reliable assessment findings (Current model: Release, mobilize, lengthen, activate, integrate, condition) #brookbushinstitute #brentbrookbush #humanmovementscience #correctiveexercise #performanceenhancement #manualtherapy #evidencebased #evidencebasedpractice #evidencebasedmedicine #physicaltherapy #athletictrainer #physiotherapist #physicaltherapist #physiotherapy #physio #manualtherapist #massagetherapist #occupationaltherapy #sportstherapy #sportsmedicine #education #educate #educator #fitnessindustry #acuptuncture #dryneedling #triggerpoints #triggerpoint
