24.01.2022 The first day of Spring is the perfect day to launch our interactive show 'Janet Ayliffe: In Touch with Nature' Janet Ayliffe has been a printmaker and painter for more than forty years. Born on Kangaroo Island, she spent most of her first eighteen years there, and to this day returns regularly for fresh inspiration. As soon as she could walk, Janet set out to explore the scrublands and waterways of her family farm. At home, Janet made ...drawings of the wondrous places she had seen with charcoal on walls all creatures who flew, walked, swam or slithered. Her etchings often involve the use of multiple plates carrying different colours, as well as incorporating chine collé, archival digital and hand painted elements. Her imagery is drawn from her inner world, her family, the surrounding landscape of the Adelaide Hills and her childhood home on the Island. She looks into the natural world with wonder and reverence, as she does with her inner life, combining and layering them in a unique visual expression. Our special interactive feature collection of Janet's works is now live on our website, click the link to view. To enquire about any of the below artworks, or to request a digital catalogue or free Artwork Superimpose, please contact either Brogan on 0408 903 515 or email, [email protected] or Belinda on 0419 651 925 and email, [email protected] https://www.manyunggallery.com.au//190-janet-ayliffe-in-to See more

20.01.2022 Putting together our interactive collection of Herman Pekel's beautiful peninsula landscapes was a real treat. A tonal realist who paints in impressionist style using oils, watercolour and acrylics, Herman showed an early interest in art which led him to study plein-air oil painting with Roger Webber, Ernest Buckmaster and Lance McNeill. The raw experience of working (respectively) with them on location brought to the fore his passion for the "freedom of ...spontaneity" and the rigour of speedily capturing the fleeting glow and illuminating impact of subtle shifts of light across the landscape. We are thrilled that we can virtually experience the beautiful scenery of the Mornington Peninsula through Herman's art during this time of staying at home and social distancing. To enquire about any of the artworks, or to request a digital catalogue or free Artwork Superimpose, please contact Brogan on 0408 903 515 or [email protected] https://www.manyunggallery.com.au//189-herman-pekel-lookin See more

20.01.2022 Ralf Kempken 'Pattern Recognition' Manyung Gallery Virtual Exhibition 8 August - 25 August 2020 ... Ralf Kempken's new series of works, 'Pattern Recognition', explores the abstract pattern work found in the shadows and reflections within Melbourne's inner city streets, parks and gardens. Ralf's art regularly draws on current and historical imagery, sometimes combining the two. Ralf creates a unique urban perspective of the landscape in his artwork, often creating secondary patterns by painting a mirror image, and then adding the correct orientation on top. Most of his paintings utilise the one-point perspective to produce the illusion of depth with flat stencilled areas of colour. "The intention is to slightly alter familiar vistas to remind us we often have a choice in how we look at the world around us." Click the link to view the virtual exhibition from our website. 16.01.2022 Stacey Mrmacovski has created an extraordinary series of new paintings for her newest exhibition with Manyung Gallery, 'Quietude'. This year I wanted to embrace quietude and to take the time to reflect inwards. I discovered there were no limitations to the internalised landscapes I could discover within, and how they allow me to embody and externalise my emotions through paint. Inspired by the beauty of darkness and light, motion and calm; these works ar...e filled with personal philosophies and ultimately in their essence, are works of hope and optimism. 'Quietude' has launched as a virtual exhibition on our website, and you can visit our Art & Design gallery space in Mornington this weekend to see the incredible artworks with your own eyes! The scale and texture of Stacey's works are sure to blow you away. 16.01.2022 My paintings speak of the precious moments when we take time out to communicate with nature. Stewart Westle This week's interactive collection is by much admired and collected Mornington Peninsula based artist, Stewart Westle. We couldn't wait to share 'Precious Moments In Time' with you. A gallery wall of @stewartwestle art truly makes you smile! ... Westle's love and enchantment for the Australian landscape and seascape are evident in the colour, freedom of application and raw energy emanating from his paintings, through which he has evolved a distinctive language for his landscapes. Westle says, "My aim as an artist and landscape painter is to express what being in the bush means to me. My paintings speak of the precious moments when we take time out to communicate with nature. The time we sit on the headlands and dream about the future and reflect on the past, the times we walk along the lonely track and wonder about the complexity of it all. The times we share friendship and just marvel at the beauty of it all. It's a wonderful world we live in, I strive for my paintings to reflect some of that wonder." 11.01.2022 Gerry Knight's linocuts have always represented her love of movement and intense colours. The bright still life subjects, expressive landscapes, and swirling full-bodied seascapes are often inspired by her very own rural backyard on the Mornington Peninsula. "I am profoundly moved by colour, often a whole subject of a painting can be based around a colour inspiration, and I cannot get it on canvas quickly enough! I paint in a predominately expressive style... focusing on the life force within the subjectmore as I feel the subject rather than how I see it, often with a naïve bent of simple joy." Manyung Gallery is proud to represent Gerry's artworks, and we hope our latest curated collection of her works inspire you to embrace the spectacular landscapes around you! 11.01.2022 Golf for some is a passion. For others, it’s a way to ruin a good walk. Many golfers dream of the illusive hole in one. The chance of the average golfer scoring a hole in one is 12,500:1. The odds aren’t great. For most golfers, the frustration, that gut wrenching feeling of missing a great shot, is the only hole in one they’ll get...the hole in oneself. Alan Kuczynski ... 09.01.2022 We have a stunning new series of works by Katherine Boland available now at Manyung Gallery. Her works are emotional landscapes, aimed to sweep you in, to entice you to forgo worldly material concerns; to be quiet and contemplate a state of being. Boland's life and art practice is strongly informed by the natural environment. Incorporating non-traditional media and processes in her work, Katherine seeks to distil classical interpretations of the beauty of... the natural world in an organic, abstract space. She often begins the act of mark making by subjecting the surfaces of her large timber panels to the transformative power of flame; using fire itself as a drawing medium. Processes of inscribing and staining serve to capture the textures and colours of natural forms. Layers of wood stain, Japan black and liming solution are stripped back and more layers applied until a lustrous depth is achieved. Rather than present a factual reality or reference recognisable forms, Katherine investigates the dynamics of landscape and fabricates an illusion in which meaning is shifted, and interpretation becomes multifaceted. To enquire about our series of artworks by Katherine Boland, please email [email protected]. https://www.manyunggallery.com.au//188-new-art-from-kather

Sitting amongst "Hybrid Forms", Stratmans new 45 piece wall sculpture which will be installed in a new biomedical building on the ARIZONA STATE UNIVERISTY campus in Phoenix. "The piece is a convergence of medicine, biology and research. A 22'/7m wall of these amoeba like forms each tell a story, similar to the way petroglyphs describe ancient Arizona. The desert plants are grafted onto these forms creating a unique hybrid and the striped areas reference genomic sequencing." Amazing work Jennyfer, we cant wait to see images of it once it's installed. Stratman Studio (artist Jennyfer Stratman)

"I am influenced by the Romantic era of the mid-nineteenth century, these... images explore the juxtaposition between lightness and darkness from both a metaphorical and physical perspective. They reflect on my Polish Heritage and a wistful desire to return to a former time and homeland. Through the traditional technique of intaglio combined with contemporary mediums, it has been my aim to find a cultural identity, where travel has become the foundation for both survival and inspiration."
