Dr Sophia is an experienced GP with over 15 years of Australian General Practice experience initially in Brisbane, then in Hobart Tasmania and is well regarded by her patients and colleagues as a dedicated and caring Doctor. She initally trained and worked in Paediactrics before joining general practice and has special interest in paediatric and adolescent med...icine. Dr Sophia is equally experienced and interested in woman’s and men’s health, has trained extensively and has special interest in mental health and addiction medicine. She performs skin checks, excisions and comfortable in managing emergencies presenting to the practice. Dr Sophia has been well received by all of our patients that have seen her. Mapleton Medical Centre welcome new patients and offer same day appointments.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia. 55 Australians a day are diagnosed with breast cancer and 8 women still die every day. Its incidence is increasing with 1 in 7 Australian women and 1 in 675 Australian men expected to be diagnosed in their lifetime. ... Early detection of breast cancer gives the best possible chance of survival. Breast changes to look out for include: A new lump or lumpiness, especially if it’s only in one breast. A change in size or shape of the breast. A change to the nipple, such as crusting, ulcer, redness or inversion. A nipple discharge that occurs without squeezing. A change in the breast such as redness or dimpling. An unusual pain that doesn’t go away. If you find a breast change that is unusual for you, or to discuss a plan for routine breast screening, please call you doctor.
