17.01.2022 In the late 80's or early 90's when Rally Australia was held in WA Colin Bond was the driver of car zero with the late John Dawson Damer. I was in the chase cr...ew that serviced the zero cars. At the same time I had the Peter Briggs owned Lancia Stratos on display. Colin drove it for a couple of demonstration laps of the Langly Park special stage on the Perth foreshore with me in the navigation seat. A ride I will always remember. The sound of that Ferrari V6 with no mufflers screaming is unforgettable. See more

In September 1964, #AlfaRomeo commissioned to the engineers Satta and Busso of the Experimental Department to design a chassis for a Sport Prototype and at the Autodelta of Carlo Chiti the design of the 2.0-liter engine. The 105.33 project gave birth to the #AlfaRomeo 33/2, officially presented on March 6, 1967. The total weight of the car was less than 600 kg. The chassis of the 33/2 weighed only 48 kgs and was formed by three large light alloy tubes arranged in an asymmetrical H shape, with the transversal element positioned between the seats and the engine, were the 100-liter tanks was. The front end was in elektron. The suspensions consisted of upper transverse arms and lower wishbones with hydraulic shock absorbers and stabilizing bars. The braking system had 4 discs, the rear inboards. The engine was a 90 V8 DOHC with 2 valves per cylinder, dry sump lubrication and bore and stroke 78x52.2 mm for a displacement of 1995.4 cc. Initially was fed by Weber carbs then with Lucas mechanical injection. The power starts from 250 HP at 9,200 rpm. The Colotti gearbox, combined with a self-locking differential, had 6-speed. Few days after the presentation, on March 12, 1967, the 33/2 debuted in the Fléron hill climb, near Liège: Teodoro Zeccoli won by setting the new record. This result earned the nickname Fléron 33/2. 21.12.2021 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. Considered by many as one of the prettiest cars ever made, the Stradale was essentially the road-going version of the Tipo 33 proto...type race cars. Only around 18 examples were built (not confirmed). Stradale is powered by a tiny flat plane crank all-aluminium SPICA fuel-injected, DOHC 16-valve 2.0L (1,995cc) V8 screaming to a 10,000 rpm rev-limiter, putting out a quoted 227bhp, even though first production car's datasheet showed 242bhp with 'street' exhuast and 253bhp with open pipes. Power is transmitted via a 6-speed transaxle. Because of the hand-built nature of the engine and body-work there are small differences in power-output and trim pieces between each of the 18 cars. She weighs around 1500 lbs. Pics @Petrolicious.

18.12.2021 The 2.5 liter V8 that powers the 1955 Lancia D50 produces about 250 horsepower and makes a wonderful noise. The exquisitely engineered D50 achieved pole positio...n on its debut at the 1954 Spanish Grand Prix with Alberto Ascari at the wheel. Two non-championship race wins followed in 1955 and later Juan Manuel Fangio won the Formula 1 title in 1956 with a D50A, which was the Lancia-Ferrari derived from this original design. #revsinstitute #lancia #d50 #v8 #formula1 See more
