24.01.2022 Its been a big few weeks for our RSPCA South Australia rescue babies! Multiple desexings, dentals and other surgeries have keep us very busy and our babies needing extra TLC Today sweet little Pumpkin had surgery with the beautiful caring team at Para Hills Veterinary Clinic to help correct a luxating patella. For those who aren't aware - a luxating patella is a knee cap that moves in and out of its normal location. Depending on the severity it can cause a lot of pain Wha...ts most frustrating is that this condition can easily be reduced and even eliminated by improving breeding practices and health testing story of our lives in rescue really We still have more surgeries coming up and other specialist appointments for some of the babies in our care....we're secretly hoping Santa brings a sack full of cash for us this year Our online store has been so popular but we are always so grateful to receive any donations to help us afford the bills that keep piling up **Please no enquiries about Pumpkin yet as she is not available for adoption at this stage** If you are able to help us out with making a tax deductible donation (over $2AUD) please use the below details Cavalier Rescue BSB 033 127 ACC 407693

22.01.2022 We've had a number of you asking about calendars for 2021 and we have some very exciting news ... kicking off next week we will have our own little store! Lockdown has seen some of us working from home, some harder than others if this picture is anything to go by and that has meant some spare time. We will have calendars and notebooks again along with personalised Christmas decorations for order, t-shirts and decals ... What would you like to see in or little shop of cavvies?

21.01.2022 So we've been working hard behind the scenes, under the watchful (sort of) eye of our supervisors, to finalise some of our designs for our up coming merchandise. We've almost finalised our Christmas cards, calendars and snoods and a few other special items. Weve had lots of vet bills in the last couple of months so items will be available very soon, we just want to let you know they are coming!

21.01.2022 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone making it even more important for everyone to stay connected. Today is R U OK Day and we know that our furry little friends can be the best listeners there are, but sometimes we need more. You don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK but, knowing what to say can potentially help make a positive difference to their life.... 19.01.2022 We are very saddened to hear of the passing of one of our SA rescues Fletcher Fletcher had a pretty awful life before he was brought into Cavalier Rescue, and had numerous behavioural issues as a result. But that didn't deter his amazing humans who adopted him and let him live a peaceful happy life, where he could be himself and be loved all at the same time Thankyou to Magda and Steve for adopting Fletcher, and for giving him undoubtedly the best 5 years of his life......run free at Rainbow Bridge little Fletcher

14.01.2022 We would love to introduce everyone to the gorgeous Miss Lucy <3 this older girl came into care recently via a guardian angel watching over her. She has some major medical issues that need to be addressed. She's had xrays, ear flush and vaccination to begin with as she has had an injury to her front leg which is needing further investigation. Next week she have further xrays to see if the leg issues are degenerative, she will be desexed, have a tooth out and have a bone biop...sy to work out the best course of action for this sweet girl. No matter how old, all dogs deserve to be given every chance, they are not worth less because they have less time on this earth and anyone who thinks otherwise ... delete yourself now. Lucy is currently making sure the doggo bed in the study stays right where we left it while she supervises the working from home of the humans. No early applications please.

13.01.2022 * Maddie Update* We did advertise Maddie for adoption a little while ago, but her foster mumma had a feeling something wasn't quite right. Just aswell Maddie has stayed in foster care because just recently she has been diagnosed with double luxating patellas This means Maddie requires surgery on both knees in order to stabilise her joints and reduce the likelihood of painful arthritis later in life ... We can n only continue to help Maddie and others like her with the incredible donations our supporters make, and this surgery although not cheap, is very necessary. If you have the ability to help us by making a tax deductible donation (over AUD$2) we would be so very grateful Cavalier Rescue BSB 033 127 ACC 407693 Please no applications for Maddie whilst she is in recovery from her surgery

12.01.2022 Well....what can we say....apart from WOW! and THANKYOU!! The response to our post on Monday regarding the development proposal for kennels to house up to 300 dogs was absolutely outstanding and officially went viral! It has reached over 700,000 people so far, and has been shared more than 8,000 times from the original post...and countless times from there ... Two media outlets in South Australia made contact within hours of the post going viral, resulting in an article in the Advertiser newspaper and radio interview on ABC Adelaide! A couple of things to note though - they didn't accurately report on the number of emails the council received - we have it on good authority that it was OVER SEVEN THOUSAND emails (not the 300 and 700 that were reported)! What an incredible achievement, THANKYOU to each of you who took the time to comment, share, email and write in! This proves that the majority of people want to see an end to puppy farms in this country, and around the world. The stories of neglect and abuse on puppy farms are endless and heartbreaking It doesn't matter how clean a kennel looks or how well these people tell us their dogs are looked after - these dogs are still used as breeding machines for financial gain until they are no longer profitable, when the law in South Australia states that a puppy farmer has the right to confine their dogs for up to 23.5 hours a day and is permitted to kill their dogs by any means, except drowning, as long as it causes unconsciousness or death as rapidly as possible We eagerly await the outcome of the development proposals, but we won't stop here......we will keep fighting along with all the blood sweat and tears we put into rescue every single day Photo: South Australian rescue Cavalier Bella says "Thankyou"

12.01.2022 Sending all our love and cavvie cuddles to Charli's humans, so, so sad

11.01.2022 Things have been a little quiet on the page of late we have been busy behind the scenes and we will have more for you soon about new poppets in and adoptions .. and thank you to those who have been patient with us. This week Cavalier Rescue lost one of our own resident boys, Jake. 10.01.2022 Benny Update Senior boy Benny had an official weigh in this week ... he is officially down another kilo down to a curvy 23.5kg. Still a way to go, but he is on the right track. He can now get up a bit of a joddle (half jog / half waddle) and still snores like a demon.... He has that much energy he tried to jump out of the car but it was more an ungraceful plop and hurt his back leg :( after a trip to the vet it was determined that he is just very dramatic... but he does have itchy ears so we are on top of meds for that. Benny will soon be looking for a foster home with a view to adopt, he is in Victoria and will not be crossing borders. We will have more information on the weekend, no early applications please.

10.01.2022 Maddie is now ready to begin the search for new humans Please read her profile completely before considering applying. For those of you ready to type before clicking: - Yes we mean no cats, neighbours cat can attest to this.... - Yes we mean no small children. - Yes we mean she needs a doggie companion - Yes we mean no interstate adoptions, we understand that when SA dogs are up, everyone else is disappointed .. and when we put Victorian dogs up, everyone else is disappointed - we know we can't win, but Maddie's needs come first. https://cavvierescue.com.au/maddie/

10.01.2022 This beautiful big hunk-o-spunk is now looking for humans to save. Please click the link and read full profile prior to sending in an application form.

10.01.2022 Proposed Puppy Farm in SA Update We have a very positive relationship with RSPCA South Australia and we're SO happy they have been so proactive in their public response to the proposed puppy farm in Two Wells, South Australia. Please listen to the attached interview with the CEO Paul Stevenson. It is VERY encouraging to see such an immediate response from the organisation with their submission of opposition to the proposed development, and to hear the importance they are... placing on the need for drastic legislation improvements Its also amazing to hear that the Adelaide Plains Council were inundated with YOUR emails of concern (not that we didn't already know ). Mass public outcry is what brings about change and we are so grateful to every single one of you who took the time to email the council. We look forward to our continued positive working relationship with the RSPCA in South Australia, and highly commend them for their high standards regarding animal welfare Our SA Coordinator Megan spent a day in the shelters recently and was very impressed at the level of genuine commitment from each and every one of the staff and volunteers in providing such great care to the animals in the shelter. Keep an eye out on our page for further updates regarding this important issue and other updates about our rescue work that still takes priority. The dogs need us more than ever, and we need your continued support https://www.abc.net.au//rspca-calls-for-change-to/12874102

06.01.2022 We promised an introduction.....and here it is! Please meet Pumpkin and Cinnamon These two beautiful girls came to us through the caring and hard working team at RSPCA South Australia....yep from the same place as Jerry and Molly who we introduced recently....and clearly used as breeding machines ... These two girls have been booked in for their vet work and won't be available for adoption for a little while, but are very happily loving life with their super kind and caring foster family as they get used to being loved these girls have a very strong bond and will stay together Please no early enquiries for these two beautiful girls. As you can imagine, our vet bills are starting to accumulate so if you are able to make a tax deductible (over $2AUD) it would help us out a lot. Cavalier Rescue BSB 033 127 ACC 407693

06.01.2022 If we don't survive til the morning, the pumpkin did it! Minnie is loving (kinda) her floofy pumpkin outfit, this little legend has now put on over 700gms and is getting curvier by the day, she's hit the 4kg mark! Our little permanent ambassador is winning!

06.01.2022 The last week has been what one might call plain old crazy. Over the next couple of days we are going to introduce you to four little ones who have come into care when we were contacted by RSPCA South Australia after taking in numerous dogs from an extremely bad neglect case. Meet Jerry, this little man was not coping in the pound environment and needed serious and immediate help funny looking Cavvie I hear you say but we are not breedist and Megan was there looking into t...hose little eyes ....and that was it,he needed to come home and get the one on one love he had been missing for so many years. He is flourishing in care, finding his little old man voice and really coming out of his shell. Once his vetwork is complete he will be looking for a foster with a view to adopt. This little senior has been let down by humans enough, now is his time to retire....look at that little face Then came Molly, in desperate need of medical treatment, love and attention. This little girl has a lot medically going on, the most obvious to is her skin, untreated skin issues have left her uncomfortable and itchy - potentially flea allergies just left untreated, completely avoidable and totally painful. She also has eye issues that can come along with untreated skin issues, but she seems to have just not had any of the the basic care requirments she needed, potentially for her whole life She is in foster care with some very lovely new doggo friends and pretty cool humans too, but it may be some time before we work out what's really going on with her. Jerry and Molly will be needing vet work this week as you can imagine it will be quite the list of treatments and then we can add to that, TWO MORE little ones in for more vetwork, who you will meet soon.....watch this space! If you can help towards Jerry and Molly's vet work please donate to: Cavalier Rescue BSB: 033 127 Acct: 407693 #cavvierescue #cavalierkingcharles #rescued
