18.01.2022 Hi Baldies, Good news about the impending recommencement of footy but I think we have to be cautious and await what the League recommends. At least we will soon be able to train but we have to be guided by the College with respect to that. One area I would like to tidy up when we go back is one of my pet hates and that is the disgusting habit of spitting and the "Bushman's Hankie". I have seen very little coming from the AFL or VFL about player hygiene but from a medical per...spective I feel it needs to stamped out. Local footy doesn't have the luxury of repeated Covid Testing and the grounds that we play on are used the next day by the general public and in our instance, school kids. Thus spitting and the like are just not on! Thus, by the powers invested in me as President and Chief Medical Officer of the Baldies (sorry Willo!!) I declare the the Marcellin Bald Eagles Football Club will be a non spitting sports club. I hope other clubs and leagues will follow. Imagine a free kick given for a player spitting - rather than Ball!! Yes!!!! it would be Spit!!! Yes!!! What would be the umpire signal be ??? Love and miss you all. Buna See more

16.01.2022 A great day out for the inaugural BGA event at Yarra Bend, followed by lunch at The Harp Of Erin. Bloody cold start, where only the real men wore shorts. Dimma was the winner off the stick with a great 79, Vito longest drive and Dimma with nearest the pin. Special mention to CraigHorney who was a "bees" from his first hole in one. 13.01.2022 I see that phase one of return to community sport including footy will include a limit of 10 and limiting distance between players. The Baldies are then in an excellent position to return as 10 is generally the most we get at training and missing targets is pretty common. Love and miss you all. Stay safe Buna

09.01.2022 **Baldy Golf Update** Hi Baldies, An update on progress with the Baldy Golf/Social Club.... I have been in touch with the Victorian Golf League about the possibility of our Social Golf club becoming a member. The good news is we meet the criteria to be a restricted member if we choose to join. What this means: For an annual fee you receive: An official Australian golf handicap (GL) Public liability Insurance cover Player injury (ie: a ball rebounds off a tree after you attempt the miracle recovery and smashes you in the face) and equipment insurance (your 3 wood mysteriously ends up in the drink after your buggy rolled away uncontrolled) receipts required. (don't know if Buna would have a receipt for his bag!) Tier 1 Golf Link access. All your stats etc as well as our clubs competitions.. The Cost: Players already with a Golf Link Number (GL) (Handicap) - $3.85 pa (yes only $3.85) Players without a (GL) and would like one - $81.20 pa Eligibility: Everyone. To play in Baldy Social golf you do not need to do any of the above and still be eligible play. Potentially we could upgrade to Full Member and field teams in comps around the state. This is a separate fee structure which includes everything. There's monthly VGL comps,scratch and handicap, plus seniors comps. Perhaps something to consider down the track. Remember Baldy Golf is open to everyone, not just Baldies. We do not have to do any of this but for those who wish to play regularly, not just Baldy golf, it gives you a chance to get A GL Handicap and the coverage it gives without joining a Golf Club. 01.01.2022 Here are the Baldies displaying social distancing after a great training session this morning. Importantly no licking of the hands and rubbing them together like Dusty ( although Watchy wasn't there), no open hand high fives like some AFL teams ( well done Hawks and Cats with closed fists and elbows all night), no spitting and nose blowing unlike some AFL players.... still!!!!.... Why?? I also went to the Eagles and the Sheagles training at Bulleen Park on Saturday in my role as the Covid Officer and was suitably impressed by how everyone followed the protocols. Well done coaches and support staff and most importantly, the players. Proud of you all!! Buna
