24.01.2022 The services offered by CHOICE CAREER SERVICES, under the directorship of Old Collegian Damian Menzies, have never been more needed, nor more in demand. Join us tonight as Damian explores employment trends for this year and the next. What does this spell for those currently in employment, those seeking work and our youngest school leavers who are attempting to enter the workforce? www.marcellinbusinessnetwork.com.au

24.01.2022 Usually at this time of year, we would be preparing to celebrate our annual Marcellin Mothers Mass and Luncheon. As we approach the Feast of the Assumption, we want you to know that we will miss catching up with our Mums this year, but we will hold you close in our thoughts and prayers. The Marist characteristic "In the Way of Mary" is an important part of the fabric of the Marcellin Community and we want to acknowledge that you are a valued member of our Community. Perhaps... we can draw some small inspiration from these words; "All members of our community are inspired to imitate her tenderness, strength and devotion to faith." We are here to chat to you anytime if you wish to connect, or if you would like to drop us an email, we would love to hear how you are going. We wish you good health and happiness and hope to have the opportunity to catch up soon. John McMahonFiona DyballJohn WalshColette RichardsonInchargeboxAnna TieppoTeresa Michelangeli

19.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY...Seems like only yesterday when in 2019 the Marcellin Foundation and Marcellin College Careers were planning the Biz Net Chat series which offers our Year 10s and Year 12s an opportunity to network with Old Collegians who return to chat about their respective fields. Industry connections and pathways for our students give them lightbulb moments to consider options more broadly than they may have been up to that point. The Marist way of gathering and su...pporting around a table is evident in these sessions. Many thanks to the Marcellin Old Collegians who continue to support the wonderful work undertaken by Marcellin staff, which in turn, supports our boys and their families. Community ties and helping each other has never been more important. www.marcellinbusinessnetwork.com.au ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

14.01.2022 Franz Tursi (OC1968) has joined the LAVALLA GIVING CIRCLE of the Marcellin Foundation. This Group contributes to the bursary fund through a bequest program. Franz and his family have been donors to Marcellin College for many years. To all of our Donors and Major Donors ($500+) to the Bursary Fund we say THANK YOU. You are making it possible for boys who could otherwise not afford it, to attend Marcellin College and benefit from a comprehensive Marist education - also impor...tantly making profound friendships which last a lifetime. The impact of your donation is truly life-changing for these students.

13.01.2022 This is one of the buses which took me to school in the early 1950s. It ran from just over Hawthorn Bridge in Richmond, Melbourne and along Denham St. where I lived, to Marcellin College in Canterbury Rd and turned around at Canterbury Station. Very crammed when full and quite dangerous if you were hard up against 2 steel rods placed across the centre back doorway which was only covered by a vinyl cover! This is the only photo I could find and taken from a newspaper cutting. The background is St James Park in Denham St. Hawthorn which was opposite our house... Thanks to Old Collegian Robert Mair, for surviving and telling the tale of the school bus rides in the 50s .. 12.01.2022 Margot and John Walsh (OC1964) have been tremendous supporters of Marcellin College for decades. John is a member of the Marcellin Heritage Group and along with other Old Collegians, has been painstakingly researching and recording the rich heritage of Marcellin College, now in its 70th year. John & Margot have also supported the bursary fund, demonstrating their commitment to making a Marist education accessible to those who can otherwise not afford it. John has an almost limitless supply of energy and continues assisting the College in initiatives such as valedictorian and duces assemblies (and a vast array of other activities). We are very grateful to you both for your continued support of Marcellin. www.marcellinfoundation.org.au #marist #givingback #dontstopmenow #communitypartners

11.01.2022 MARCELLIN COLLEGE FOUNDATION was set up by the Marist Brothers to reconnect Old Collegians with their school and raise funds to support the Colleges Bursary program. In 2019 we recognised our Major Donors (donations to the Bursary Fund of $500+) with an inaugural dinner. An engaged Old Collegian family, the Merrigans, joined us along with our other generous supporters. Peter Merrigan (OC 1959) of MILLAR|MERRIGAN has supported Foundation events and fundraisers from the beginning. Thank you to Peter & Julie Merrigan and their family for their support and wonderful company at our functions.

09.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY While COVID-19 has changed how many of us as working parents structure our day for our childrens learning, the social connections of our children have continued to be paramount. As I look over my sons shoulders to check if they are actually engaging in their online class, therell be the occasional glimpse of a Minecraft screen or a private message to a friend, seemingly unrelated to the subject content. Old Collegians tell us that the friendships forge...d at school remain with them today. Post six years at Marcellin they are still catching up with mates from their school days - often these mates are their closest friends. Marcellin College is known for its tightly knit community and Marist family spirit. As a parent, I see the investment in a Marcellin education as an outlay that will see my sons reaping the rewards of wonderful friendships for decades to come. In the Marcellin Foundation and Marcellin Business Network, we see evidence of this every day. We thank the teachers who have been flexible in their delivery of learning, great models of learning themselves, and we also thank our broader community of Marcellin Supporters and sponsors. This photo is from Richard Stones collection from the old Marcellin art room from 1984. #ourcommunity #friendsforever #familyspirit #marist See more

02.01.2022 The Marcellin Memorial Mass is held each year at this time so we can acknowledge those in the Marcellin Community who have lost their lives and their loved ones who have been left behind. Although we cannot come together to celebrate Mass this year, you are invited to take a few minutes to pause and reflect. We may not be together in the same space, but we will be together in spirit and oneness as we remember and pray for those we have lost.
