25.01.2022 Today Group 1 made their annual big pot of stone soup!! It was the perfect day for it! The Stone Soup story is an old fable about some weary travellers who arrive at a village after travelling for many days. When they knock on the doors of the people who live there and ask for food they find that the people have nothing to share with them. The weary travellers decide to make Stone Soup and eventually each of the villagers adds something to the soup. The moral - Everyone has something to share. And when you share, the whole community benefits even you!

As a community kindy we are always working to ensure that we are offering programmes that meet the needs of our local community.... We understand that many families would love to send their child to a community kindy but the hours may not suit. 25.01.2022 An exciting announcement to our community! We held our July committee meeting on Tuesday night and made some decisions around the programs we will offer in 2021 which we would like to share with you all. As a community kindy, it is very important that we offer kindy sessions that reflect the needs of the families in our community. We know that often, standalone kindy programs, whilst the best model of kindy for children, are not always an option for working families. As a not... for profit, we are also mindful that we need to ensure the viability of our programs and it is often a tricky balance. We would like to announce that from 2021, our Group 1 will now operate a 6 day fortnight (Monday, Tuesday and EVERY Wednesday 8:30-2:40 pm2:40pm) and Group 2 will still be offering two long days on Thursday and Friday (8:30-4:15 pm4:15pm). We are also planning on introducing Vacation Care for our families in 2021! This is very exciting! At this stage, we are planning for Vacation Care to be available for the term 1, 2 and 3 holidays as well as the first and last week of the Christmas holidays. More information including dates, times and costs will be made available as soon as possible. If you or someone you know are looking for a kindergarten program next year and thought a community kindy would not be an option, please give us a call to arrange a visit!

25.01.2022 Our kindy celebrates the unique place that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples hold in Australia and actively promote reconciliation. Today we danced and painted to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music, read Sorry Sorry and Welcome to Country and used Lemon Mrytle to make cordial. #NationalSorryDay #Reconciliation

23.01.2022 During Child Protection Week Group 1 held a Child Protection morning tea and group 2 an afternoon tea! We enjoyed a visit from Constable Vicki who told us about her job as a police officer and ways we can keep ourselves safe. We decorated a paper lantern as part of the Shine a Light for Children, Lantern Project and each family received a child protection themed book. 22.01.2022 Happy last day of term Group 1! We have been planning our Ice Cream shop for the last couple of weeks and today our shop opened for business. We made signs, filled out order forms, decorated ice cream cones, role played, talked about money and best of all enjoyed a tasty ice cream cone!!

22.01.2022 We love our amazing outdoor space. Today our Group 2 friends got to chat to our friendly resident possum. We are lucky to be surrounded by nature and are able to teach our children to respect and enjoy our living creatures.

19.01.2022 Our lovely stick insects they are tickly and lots of fun. We enjoy learning about how to care for our little creatures. Did you know families can take them home for a week. 19.01.2022 Today was National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day! We celebrated this special day enjoying our favourite Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music, dancing and listening to stories and arts and crafts!

18.01.2022 Our frog pond... We just need to add the water and plants and we will be ready to welcome the frogs!! Our kindy provides boundless opportunities for children to engage with the natural world and to observe and learn about our role in caring for our environment!!

17.01.2022 Today we headed into 7th Brigade Park for our mini sports morning. Our teams took part in a running race, hurdles, shot put, egg and spoon and sack races. It was such a fun day!!

15.01.2022 We discovered who has been nibbling on our veggies in our veggie patch!! We spotted their cute face hiding out in our possum box!! We now have a new picket fence part way around our veggie patch and have started prepping for our new FROG POND!! A very big thank you to Bunnings for the kind donation of the pond and everything we need to create a welcoming habitat for local frogs!!

13.01.2022 Bottle Rockets! When baking soda and vinegar are mixed there is a reaction. It also creates a carbon dioxide gas. This gas builds pressure within the bottle rocket and.... 5,4,3,2,1 blastoff!! Group 2 did this at kindy and then got Henry and Rumple bear and his family to test it at home!

02.01.2022 Following on from our police visit and learning about how to keep ourselves safe, we had a visit from the Ambulance Service. Becky spoke about her uniform and how she helps others. Before we had a look at the Ambulance Becky asked what was the number we call in case of an emergency. All our Kindy friends yelled 000. (Ms Luella and Ms Louisa were very proud)We all had a turn at looking through the ambulance and asked lots of questions. Thank you @qldambulance #kindy

01.01.2022 Our first beyond the Kindy gates walk was a massive success!!! We are so lucky to have such a beautiful space just outside our kindy. Our first walk was only a short one so we know how to be safe on our walks. Next Wednesday we will be going on another walk but, this time it will be a scavenger hunt. 01.01.2022 Today our noodle shop, Oodles of Noodles was open for business. We made signs, marked off our order forms and sent them to chef Miss Amelia. While our orders were being made up, our friend Kai showed us how to use chopsticks Some of us had no problems eating with chopsticks, some of us requested a fork and others found new ways to get the noodles to our mouth.
