23.01.2022 So the last 5 weeks has been a bit of a blur. We have covered some ground fulfilling the NSW bush fire clean up for Public Works and Laing O'Rourke. From out back of Rollands plains, to Gingers Creek, to Elands, through Yarras and Birdwood and even a couple of clean ups withing a few hundred meters of home. It has been a pleasure to help these people that experienced that night on the 8th of November. The common comment is. That was no bushfire, that thing that came through w...Continue reading

22.01.2022 10 Tonne of Track Loaders! Thanks for the cartage again Nick.

22.01.2022 Introduced the boys to some asphalt patching last week. The old hot worx by hand where the ground is 160 degrees c and the shovel gets heavier as you wear out. They did well. Get your Asphalt patches here. Call Nathan for pricing.

21.01.2022 Been out in gods country again. Been telling someone I'll take them to this place but times havent lined up for that yet. Love this property, it's on the market if anyone wants to know about it. Found a little honey eater out there this time. See if you can see it? Chased a bush Turkey for a bit, repaired some bridge damage and I might go back out again today to finish off prepping for sale. The river is amazing after the floods, this is the first time I've seen it flushed out from all the fire debris and crystal clear. One more job, open the lookout again, sending the baby drott up to 450 meters and I think I'll fly the drone up there this time! It went halfway up on Sunday and had forgotten how steep it is, good track. It would be a tough hill climb on a dirt bike. I'll see if I can stand at the edge this time.

21.01.2022 Almost there, lookout track is done, heartbreak hill conquered, drains pits and pipes installed, sediment traps working, just a few finishing touches to go.

20.01.2022 This week I've been going back to my roots and showing some of the new boys how we lay stormwater. It has reminded me of just how much of a trojan my Dad is. He and I worked on the original stages of Braeyroy estate. There is a massive twin concrete pipe system in the ground there. I was fairly green and dad was teaching me. We were in the trench together with a few other boys around us. Some old local legends there as well. Bob, Dion, Dions old man Pete, Mick Johnston was di...gging. Jay and James as well. It was For Steve's Haulage and Excavations which is an entirely different company now. We had the moving hole in the ground happening. The pipes in these pics are 450mm. We were laying 1345mm pipes I believe, 2 at a time. Dad had us moving like a well oiled machine. He would have been in his mid 50's, me in my mid 20's. I was fresh out of the workshop. This day we started early, I descended into the trench box with the old man quite early in the day. Didnt come back out till after 28 of those huge pipes had been laid, they weighed tonnes each and could only be moved by machine. It was a huge and hard day. To this day, I've not seen that happen again. I dont know if I could pull it off again without the old boy. So this is a shout out to my dad Terry. He wont see this as he hates Facebook and is still a dry, cranky old bugger. But I'll tell you one thing. He is the one man in this world that has always been there for me and not once given up. He has never been easy on me and my boys are learning that I am the same. His attitude was never to have anyone think that the foreman's son was having a free ride. And I worked for it. My boys work for it also but my attitude is that I will not asked someone to do something I'm not prepared to do my self. Shout out to Liam, that has had a rough week but was still in the trench with me. And to Benny for going hard in the heat and humidity yesterday. Troy for manning the Loader. Even getting see the boss remove an old poured in situ, headwall with a demo saw and sledge hammers! Got a few more of these to do yet so we will be sleeping well at night for a while. See more

17.01.2022 Pushing on to get it done. Bridge replacements in conservation areas.

16.01.2022 Working side by side with Coastal Backhoe Hire again.

16.01.2022 Little stabe job in forster this week.

13.01.2022 So after the 1 in a hundred, some of the causeways were damaged. Been back repaired the pipe for the causeway overflow out of the blue lagoon, laid a big log in place to retain the pipe and act as the spillover point, new cement bandage and backfilled. New crossing and property access back.

12.01.2022 A little peek at what we have been up to. This is a property we cleaned up after the fires. This client lost everything, this was the worst one I saw. The heat that came through here was insane! Well, after all burnt materials were removed, there is still the forest clean up as the new weed growth is thick. 2 old log bridges to re enstate. We have opened the roads, moved all the fallen hard woods, re built 2 bridges/causeways with concrete pipe drainage and high water spillwa...ys to filter all the trash before making it to the main river. Installed a few concrete spillways and out back rock pits and filters to sort erosion control and drainage to bring this property back to a maintainable state. Most of all, a clean slate for my client to build on again after such a traumatic loss. This one has been personal and I've taken this property and place into my heart, and treated it as though I was still in arnhem land. I will walk away from this one with my head held high... 12.01.2022 Nathan Marden from Marden Civil has been operating his mighty Bobcat T770 Track Loader to assist with NSW bush fire cleanup in his local Government area. This m...achine has led the way for the last couple of weeks and has proved to be a beast. Looks like the local wildlife survivors are thanking you and the many other helping hands for your efforts too! See more

12.01.2022 Trecking about the countryside with butterflies riding the heat thermals on the bobcat. There were lesser wanderers everywhere on this property. Wedge tails over head and a wicked little hill climb we had to modify a bit to get the job truck in.

12.01.2022 The old NCE 140H. I always did like the H model. I do miss these North QLD views.

04.01.2022 A quick little weekend shed pad with Coastal Backhoe hire.

04.01.2022 Driveway, driveways and more driveways... Out pappinburra way re sheeting damaged driveways with NSK Earthworks. Need to do the neighbor, their neighbor and the neighbor after that next. The big 770gp makes short work of the re sheet. Sounds fantastic pushing up the hill out there!

03.01.2022 Well it's been a big few weeks of support for a larger civil crew in the Mid Coast shire, NSK backed us completing a crew of Labourers and Plant with myself in the lead, Liam and Ben beside me, jumping in and out of the T770 with Nick and his father in NSK's Excavator and both trucks. The new Mack is a flash bit of kit. Available with dog trailer as well. We put in the hard yards and were all sleeping well each night. It's been 12hr days on site plus travel on top going 7 day...s a week apart from a couple of wet days to get it all done. Using almost the full repotoir. Compliments to the team for the hard yards, there was plenty of sweat and it really was a fast pace. The crew made me proud and I'm sure they were pleased to have the boss in the trenches with them busting ourselves together. Proved that we are a crew with many skills and a strong and fit team of labour. See more

02.01.2022 Sometimes I end up on job sites that are like Mars esque wastelands. Sometimes it's a rank tip site. Sometimes I'm just a number in a fleet of machines on a long stretch of road. Sometimes I'm in the middle of no where in a remote paradise that only a few get to see. Sometimes I just dont wanna go home...

01.01.2022 A bit of Liams handy work, creating a safe and dry surface in the stables for a bit of Horse comfort. How are your stables fairing, Liam would be happy to have a look and get it sorted if the rain has washed them out.

01.01.2022 The baby drott having a flex!

01.01.2022 Where it all began. Sitting in the old Deere with my old man.

01.01.2022 A day before I took off to the latest civil job a little private one I had on a gorgeous look at the sky kind of day!
