20.01.2022 Over the next few days there will be another flurry of social media posts as Dogs QLD have advised that applications can be made for shows in Zone 2 and 3 to be held from the last weekend in August. Our club has made the decision that we will not hold our shows that were scheduled for September .. I’m in the process of Advising our contracted judges ( hopefully they’ll accept dates in 2021) and applying to Qantas for credit notes for their flights. This decision was not made lightly and was at great expense to the Club . Given the time frame we cannot reverse the decision that was made with the information that was available at the time .. we look forward to seeing you all next year.

18.01.2022 You’ve probably all heard by now we’ve had a setback .. we had not realised we were not a sports entity but in fact an event entity .. I guess with DQ referring to Dog Sports it was an easy misunderstanding however rest assured we will continue to plan and work around this roadblock .. the QLD Govt has a Covid plan for events that will be unveiled when they announce level 3 .. not to far away we believe .... hopefully we can get through this by also presenting our own Covid plan that we had just started work on and hand in hand we can bring you one of the best weekends in FNQ .. safely and compliant .. wish us well .. we will keep you informed.

17.01.2022 Don’t forget our upcoming shows ... closing date strictly 19th April due to volunteers workloads .. so get your entries in and don’t miss out ... note our new online catalogue system .. order when you enter and it will be available the day before as a download to you

16.01.2022 Hi Members and Friends .. As I said we were going to fight the hard fight to bring you some great shows in September 2020. We’ve given it our best shot but DQ are adamant NO SHOWS till at least 31/10/20!.. I can only speak for Mareeba and we cannot proceed . All of you that will question why open shows and now Junior Handlers State Finals can be held at Durack , But no shows in FNQ, I ask you to appeal for answers directly from DQ or our Zone 3 Rep as we cannot answer you as ...we have not received any info directly . We have only been informed via the Dogs Queensland Paw Prints like the rest of you . So sorry guys we gave it all we had . Anyway onto good news again as we want to be as positive as possible. We have applied for our 2021 September dates to be moved to 20/21 March where we will bring you 3 Championship Shows . They will be run on the same format as our September shows .. so we ask you to pencil those dates in and as soon as we get approval we will formally advise you . Thanks for all your support with our endeavours ... be in touch soon

15.01.2022 WET WET WET WET WET WET WET WET So I guess you can tell its somewhat WET. As i type this its raining again or should I say still. The shows will be held on the CCKC grounds, however we will decide on ring layouts etc tomorrow, we just need to see how much more rain we get overnight. We will post a photo up after 4 pm Friday if they change from the usual. So some rules that we ask you to follow:... The grounds are very water logged ( the weather forecast is saying it should be a lovely sunny weekend) and will be extremely wet underfoot ...perhaps gumboots may be the desired footwear, we therefore ask you to try to not push your trolleys through the grassed areas when they are fully laden ( agility are using the grounds next week and we don't want huge ruts that their dogs can fall into and cause damage to legs etc.).Please carry your equipment rather than push it. Also, if unloading as a Quigley Street day user you can come in via the camping gate and drive down behind the sheds and unload and then vacate immediately to let others in. You are to return your vehicle to Quigley St. If you could keep all pathways clear of gazebos along the creek side and set them up only on the grass, these pathways will be used all weekend so as to minimize being on the grass in front of the sheds. Camping folk : we have someone checking that you are a camper and if a day user again we ask you to use Quigley street only .If you wish to use the camping area please see them at the writers shed so you can fill in the camping form and pay the $25 for the day. So lets COMMUNICATE with each other and be patient as its going to be muddy and tight. If you are given a directive by the Club , please remember we are volunteers and just trying to keep things running smoothly. We are Far North Queenslanders and are accustomed to being wet at shows..lets all get along and enjoy ourselves .

15.01.2022 Mareeba & District Kennel Club will be holding its AGM at Quigley St on 31/1/21 at 9.00 am All invited , current members and new . Attached is a nomination form for office bearers and positions vacant . If you are a financial member please feel free to nominate and forward the form back to [email protected] or to [email protected] By the 22/1/21 . Meeting will be held under CCKC Covid rules . These can be viewed on their website .

04.01.2022 IT’S WET is putting it mildly .. after an 8 day deluge and a metre of rain we finally have a peek of sunshine this afternoon .. the rest of the week is still a bit hit and miss but the decision is the shows WILL GO AHEAD!!!!!!!! We hope the CCKC grounds will be dry enough to use although that’s being very optimistic.. naturally this would be the ideal and would be the best for all of us . However , we will inspect on Thursday morning and make a call if we are sticking with Pl...an A or have to implement Plan B .. this will be over in the undercover area (that we used on NYE) it will be incredibly tight as there will be 2 rings , but won’t have to have the Covid spacing , so it’s doable .. it will require everyone working with tolerance and patience .. so fingers crossed it stops raining and the beautiful outdoor rings can be used .. will post around noon on Thursday to advise what the decision is .. thanks everyone for your understanding .. the joys of the tropics !!!! See more

02.01.2022 Mark these in your diaries ..

01.01.2022 Breed numbers folks

01.01.2022 Good news folks .. We held a management meeting this morning and it was unanimously decided to hold our 3 September 2020 shows . This of course is subject to Dogs Queensland approval . We have a lot of work behind the scenes with preparation of our request , not the least the huge task of putting forward a detailed Covid-19 safe plan. We will keep you informed as we progress. The smooth running of these shows if they go ahead will require major deviation from the normal and as such this information will allow you to disseminate in detail so you can make a decision on whether you wish to enter . Wish us luck and we will keep you posted with developments
