04.01.2022 On the weekend I lost one of my biggest supporters, my dad. Most of you have probably never met dad, he was rarely at a horse show... at a race track would be where you’d find him on weekends! But he would always call on the way home to see how I went at a show and behind the scenes he was my go to fix it man. Nothing was ever too hard for his ‘can do’ attitude, not even my craziest of ideas... rubber flooring in my stables, hot water system in the wash bay, new fencing, col...lecting loads of sawdust, lights in my stables, dust proofing my tack room, building stables at my new house, you name it, he could do it! For what we would all call a ‘non horsey’ person, he was pretty savvy! He knew the ins and outs of safe fences and stables, understood the need for exactly 8 hours of dark, and that feeding, washing and clean bedding for your horses was more important than feeding, showering and fresh sheets for yourself. He didn’t even blink an eye when I told him how much I’d spent on my top boots or recent vet bills... I’d just have to relate it to some go kart parts; it’s like a bottom end rebuild dad. When I moved interstate in 2017 to work for J&R Equestrian, he was interested to know what all the fuss was about. When I told him that Jess and Rhys were like the Mark & Michael Burford (go kart legends) of the horse world, he was impressed. He loved following their success and hearing all my stories about horses and clients and all our adventures, what an experience he would say. From that day forward, all I had to do to justify an expensive purchase was to simply say Jess and Rhys have/use this and a simple nod of his head and a cheeky smile would show his understanding. I only wish you all could have met him. Thankyou for always helping to bring my visions to life dad, and for unconditionally supporting this crazy horse girl. You will be so dearly missed every single bloody day! P.S. All Rising Star Browband orders will still be filled and delivered first thing (next) Saturday morning! I won’t be riding due to injury, but look forward to being ringside and watching you all out there.
