25.01.2022 For Adoption SHADOW M/c 956000009501058 Source no. EE 102978... This delightful 3.5 year old girl is desexed, vaccinated, wormed, flead, and ready to find her perfect new home. She is so perfectly named because she just wants to be your shadow in everything you do. Although Shadow is wonderful around chickens, she really couldn’t care less if they lived or died...all she wants is YOU! Previous attempts by the old owners to rehome Shadow have not gone well, due to her habit of mouthing/nipping children. We have not seen any of that behaviour here with my teenagers and their friends. Shadow needs a quiet home with one or two adults. She is an excellent doorbell, and reserves her barking for strangers. She will sit by you for hours or follow you around as you do your job. Shadow would make a wonderful companion for a single person or retired couple. She is ok with other male dogs who aren’t dominant, but as she likes to be number 1 she doesn’t like other females. Shadow would like A home on acreage, No young children/grandchildren (teens and upwards are ok) To be able to come inside and curl up on the sofa with you In return you will have the most devoted companion and guardian you could ever hope for. Applications to [email protected] stating SHADOW in the title. Edited to add: adoption fee $450

17.01.2022 Woo hoo party of poo! For 1 please. Well what can we say. Mr Oakley from the city with his beautiful clean flowing coat Is now Mr Shitty not Mr City ... What a love of life this gorgeous lad has. I'll add a moving photo Renee took of how proud he was after his poo party and smelling like Eau De La Shit. Loving the farm life so far. Note from Oakley......I do find the little tan dog with no face pretty scary though ( Mork the pug pup scares me). Lots to do and explore. Haven't tried out the swimming holes yet as the quality of poo at this place is tops so been to busy. Check you all later folks. See more

13.01.2022 Hiya All, I'm Oakley. I'm 3. I'm scared of my shadow. I nearly had a fit over a leaf floating in the horse water trough.... I have been a city boy but I really need room and space to meet my full potential. Inside is primarily what I'm used to but I'm going to be learning how to be a big boy outside on a farm and there are all these feathered things around. I've met 4 of the 7 people living here and was happy to meet them all. I'm feeling a bit confused but I am enjoying all the attention. The Bucket lady's right hand gal Renee is going to be looking after me as the Bucket lady is have a bit of a back op. So I will ask them to take my pics and share my stay here. Look forward to letting you get to know me over the next 4 or more weeks. See more

10.01.2022 We have some genuinely lovely people supporting us. Some of Australias best Registered Maremma breeders are our greatest supporters and help in many ways that rescue supporters would never imagine. Thank You Carolyn for thinking of our Rescue Big Whites on your special day.

08.01.2022 Welcome Miss Millie approx 3 yrs old. Don't you just love the way Mac, in the background, is regally ignoring her waiting to make friends. Millie will be getting to know us over the next 4 to 6 weeks and then will be looking for her forever home.

08.01.2022 Fun with 3 yr old Oakley after the big storm and torrential rain. This stunning hunk of love is so playful and cuddly. Could not give a rat's about the livestock. So is no paddock worker. What he is though is someone's best ever friend who needs LOTS of space to run and be himself.... He does not like to be away from his people friends and is just full of joy. It you work on your larger property and want a right hand man who will adore the earth you walk apon Oakley is your man. He will be ready for adoption in about 2 weeks so have some conversations at home IF you think this handsome man might be missing from your life. Secure fencing essential. Large acerage ESSENTIAL!( 20 plus acres) so he can't bother folks with barking running up and down fences if your not home. He is a dominant desexed male and does like to hump ALOT when playing with other dogs. So needs other dogs his size. He nearly crushes the small dogs playing but loves to play with them all. Super curious and has ZERO recall hahaha. Mine all come when called, always have. But not Oakley!!! It has been a delight to foster this Maremma X Pyrenean, which we think is All Pyr. Renee will be very particular is choosing Oakleys home, as we are for all our fosters. This is her second time choosing a home. She chose Lily, her first foster of her own, a perfect home. She shall do the same for Oakley. See more

08.01.2022 What a joyous poo rolling that was. Pepp to my step.

07.01.2022 Today’s work colleagues Angus and Shadow. Terrible at answering phones and making coffee, but excellent toe warmers, door bells and all round companions. Who are you working with today? Non-maremma pics welcome too!... Maree in the Macedon Ranges

07.01.2022 Interesting read. We already knew they are amazing. Just more proof. https://www.pastore-maremmano.it//the-maremma-in-war-times/

07.01.2022 #######Edited 6pm Sat 28th####### Meet and greet pending next week. Expressions of Interest. Headed Ditch.... [email protected] MC 956000010878463 DOB 27th February 2020 EE102978 Adoption fee $450 Ditch is an extraordinarily handsome and gentle 9 month old dog. When meeting for the first time, he is timid, and will bark. However, once he feels safe with you he is very relaxed and affectionate. He has been in foster care since 1 November and has settled it well to life on the farm. He has been introduced to chickens, goats, cows, and sheep - at this stage he is more interested in playing with them than guarding them. He will require much love, attention and training in order to prepare him for a career as a livestock guardian. Ditch loves being outside, and is instinctively protective of his flock. He also bonds quickly with his human family. Secure fencing a must. Ongoing supervision and training around stock needed. Ditch has been introduced to many other dogs ranging from 10-year-old border collies to 3-year-old German shorthaired pointers, as well as other Maremma dogs. He generally bonds with the other dogs very quickly, although his play is very boisterous, which needs to be monitored carefully - especially with male dogs. As an example, recently some rough play with a new older male undesexed foster Maremma quickly developed into a fight and a competition for male dominance. Not instigated by Ditch. While Ditch relaxes with new people quite quickly, this does not happen if he feels afraid for some reason. He appears particularly wary of men wearing labouring or working gear, like high-vis vests or overalls. For example, when taken to the vet for desexing, he was highly anxious, and growled and snapped at the vet, who was wearing overalls. The only other difficult issue with Ditch (quite common with Maremma) is that he dislikes getting into the car. While he’s quite calm when travelling, he needs to be lifted into the car, and will growl and struggle while you do this. This is manageable if car trips are rare, but he wouldn't be suitable if he needed to frequently travel in the car. Ditch is a magnificent dog with a playful, loving nature - he will just need the a new owner who can take the time to settle him in and train him. If you feel you can offer Ditch a great future please get in touch as directed above. Ditch has been desexed, vaccinated, flea treated and wormed and is available for adoption. He is currently located 10 minutes outside of Daylesford.

04.01.2022 SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT.. Zrina Johnson from Maremma sheepdog of Australia FB Many times you hear people saying, maremma are aggressive dogs and even our (ex) vet asked us to muzzle our dogs cause he didn't feel safe around them. Anyway, to cut the long story short, we have had quite few maremma outings and up to 18 dogs together plus all the owners and never, not even once did we have any issues or dog or human aggression. Some of the dogs have never met each other be...fore. I wonder what you all think about that? My own opinion on this is that most of us maremma owners know that breed is aloof with strangers so we do not run up to each other's dogs and put our hands all over them. We wait for the dog to say hello and "ask" to be approached. We don't force dogs to play with each other. We give them time. They do it when they are ready. And another theory is that we are all relaxed knowing that we don't have to explain our dogs to each other and dogs pick up on that and are relaxed and calm themselves. See more
