23.01.2022 As I am sure we would all agree 2020 has been a very challenging year. Covid-19 has changed the way we do things and may continue to do so for some time. The College has worked very hard to be as supportive as possible to our students, families and staff and we thank you all for working with us through this difficult year. Given the continued restrictions imposed on us throughout the Covid-19 situation, and acting on advice from NSW Health, the College has made the difficult ...decision to cancel the annual offsite student celebration night. We do however still have a very exciting plan to celebrate 2020 with our students. On Thursday 3rd December we will be holding a presentation day where awards will be presented and a celebration lunch will be provided. Again, given the continued restrictions around social gatherings we are only able to have our Year 12 graduating students bring along guests. This will allow us to be able to include all other students and staff. As we would like to make this as special as possible we encourage any students that would like to dress formally to please do so. We will be doing the very best to provide an atmosphere similar to what we experience at our celebration evening each year. We appreciate your understanding and we look forward to returning to our usual Celebration Night in 2021. See more

19.01.2022 LATEST INFORMATION REGARDING COVID-19 As outlined in our letter of 6 August 2020 the College has implemented the recommended procedures to do its best to ensure the safety of our staff and students. We would now like to provide you with the latest information we have received from NSW Health. Parents and caregivers are reminded NOT to send students to school if they are unwell, even if they have the mildest flu-like symptoms. In the event that a student presents at the Coll...ege with flu-like symptoms, we will make arrangements for the student to be sent home. NSW Health have asked that the College strongly encourage any student who is unwell or has even mild flu-like symptoms to arrange to be tested through their local medical practitioner or one of the COVID-19 clinics. Students with flu-like symptoms will need to provide a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result before being permitted to return to school. Schools are not required to conduct widespread temperature screening or mandate the wearing of a mask. The College will be vigilant in monitoring it’s infection control measures and we ask that parents and caregivers help us promote the following good hygiene practices: Regularly washing hands. Avoiding sharing drinks and food. Coughing or sneezing into your elbow, or a tissue which should be discarded immediately. Once again, if you feel that you, a family member or your student is vulnerable or simply would like to have a break from the anxiety surrounding COVID-19 then I would encourage you to reach out to your students Caseworker and see if alternative study arrangements can be arranged.

19.01.2022 It is with some regret that we have decided to hold this years Semester One Half Yearly Presentation Day without guests, families and dignitaries due to ongoing concerns and restrictions relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. Whilst we value and enjoy nothing more than celebrating the achievements of our students with their parents, carers, siblings, and key workers, the well being of students and staff of the College is paramount. At this stage the day will be held in the last w...eek of term (date to be confirmed) with the plan to have an outdoor assembly and BBQ for students and staff only (this plan may be subject to change based on the ever evolving Government advice on the easement of restrictions around social gatherings). With all going according to plan we look forward to welcoming guests back to our End of Year Celebration Night in December. See more

12.01.2022 Margaret Jurd College respectfully acknowledges the traditional custodians: the Pambalong clan of the Awabakal people on whose traditional land this school is located, and pay our respects to Elders, both past and present. Today, May 27 marks the launch of Reconciliation Week. The national 2020 theme this year is ‘In this Together’ and reinforces that we all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and c...ommunities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures. Margaret Jurd College would also like to acknowledge that whilst much has been achieved, there is still more work to be done and this Reconciliation week is a time to reflect on how far we have come while setting new directions for the future. We commit to continuing to embrace the culture and traditions of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, staff and school community. #NRW2020 #InThisTogether2020 See more

08.01.2022 This Friday the 28th, we will be celebrating Wear It Purple Day. All students are encouraged to wear something purple and we will also be having our monthly awards breakfast! 07.01.2022 As of Monday the 25th May, Margaret Jurd College will return to regular operational hours. This includes the daily running of all classes, years 9 -12 five days a week. During this transitional time we appreciate that parental discretion can be used if sending your child back to school fulltime is cause for concern.... Please do not send your child to school if they are unwell, as the sick bay will be non operational at this time due to WHS restrictions. If they present to the school unwell please be advised we will contact you and ask for them to be collected.
