25.01.2022 The Organic Garden has now re-opened for visitors both during the week and at weekends. But due to Covid-19, the Garden Cafe fundraiser will remain closed until later in the year, so no coffee and cakes till then. In the mean time, COME AND HAVE AN OUTSIDE WINTER PICNIC! Thanks for who came today between 9am -11am, to the Cafe location who either bought food and drinks from home or from the Farmers Market or from one of our wonderful MR cafes or bakeries!! ... They sat at the tables, ate and drank and caught up with friends! Also thank you for the donations to the Organic Garden they are truly appreciated. Hope to see you here next week - 27 June 2020 x
20.01.2022 Well the @margaret_river_organic_garden doesn't know the meanjng of lockdown. Life - and nature - goes on regardless of humans. Two of our agaves have sent up f...lower spikes. We think they are the agave desmettiana variegata, which flower just once in about 8-10 years. We are looking forward to seeing these develop. #agave #agaveflowers #succulentgardening #communitygarden #margaretriverorganicgarden #xeriscape #unusualflowers #lungsofmargaretriver #wednesdaysgarden #margaretriver #justanotherdayinwa See more
19.01.2022 The Margaret River Organic Garden is open but ........ WHAT: From Thursday this week [13 August] a new public pathway will be built directly outside the MR Organic Garden, to link the paths from outside the MRSHS to the Education Campus. This change will be good for students, tourists and locals! HOW LONG: This will take an estimated 10 weeks - as it will involve putting the drains under the ground as well. ... OH&S ISSUE: Due to OH&S requirements this whole area will be fenced with no access to the OG from the front or back - only by foot from either side. NO PARKING: Parking at the back of the OG will not be available, all vehicles should park in the Education Campus. Thank you for your continued understanding.
19.01.2022 We are not as locked down as we were, but for those of you who are still a little cautious but still want to read, maybe use the Little Free Library outside the MR Organic Garden? To make sure this is possible, we would appreciate any fiction or non fiction donation of books. Thank you

17.01.2022 REMEMBERING NIC STONE 10.05.64 - 12.10.2019 Please join us for a Community Gathering this Saturday morning in the Organic Garden from 9.30am onwards, in memory of the extraordinary life and times of Nic Stone / community artist, clown doctor, mother and friend to many / who grew up in Margaret River, and lived and loved here at many times during her life. The Cafe will be open, so get your coffee and cake, and wander into the garden when it suits you, to join us for a time ...and to share your memories and reflections. Nic was so gifted with her hands and passionately loved the south west bush and coast, so we’ll be creating a Nature Mandala in her honour, for those who wish to join in. Please bring flowers, petals, gumnuts, shells, stones, leaves etc if you can. We’ll also be planting a pink Peace rose in the garden for Nic during the morning, so there will be somewhere to come visit in your own time too. Nic lived here with her parents Chrissy and Tony Stone during the 60s and early 70s - Tony was building supervisor for the Shire during that time - many people may remember her family. She attended Margaret River High till Year 10 and many of her old classmates will still be living here. She was highly involved with the Crash Bang Circus in the early 90s and countless other creative community projects, especially during her time living out at Bruce and Jan Allen’s place at Juniper Rd, which was in many ways her spiritual home. Her son Ben (29) is a gifted artist, living and working abroad and around Australia; and still comes and goes from his dad Matt’s place in Karridale. Nic is much missed by her family and her huge community of friends. There is a memorial gathering in her honour on the lawns of Kidogo Arthouse in Fremantle at 5.30pm today, Tues Oct 29. All are welcome. See more

13.01.2022 It is with much sadness that we say goodbye to our long-time volunteer and friend at the Garden, Robin Trouchet, who passed away this week. Rob was an experienced gardener who contributed hugely over the years to the overall planning and design of the Organic Garden. She was always wise, kind and good natured and valued for her sense of humour whatever the job on hand.... We will miss you Rob.

05.01.2022 Someone has kindly assisted all of the Organic Garden Fairies to go on a holiday! While they are on holiday, to explain to our little ones why no fairies are here, we will add a sign to the Organic Garden Fairy Garden - "Our fairies are inside because it is wet!" ! If you have any replacement fairies in-tact/broken you no longer need, we would be much appreciate if you would drop them at our OUTSIDE PICNIC any Saturday morning. Thank you in advance x

02.01.2022 The Margaret River Organic Garden’s volunteers come in all shapes and sizes. We met our resident quenda today who came right up close at tea break. We’ve seen t...he holes it digs throughout the Garden but this is the first time we have met. Quendas are a local native variety of bandicoots that are mostly nocturnal. They dig for fungi, insects and plant roots and in doing so distribute beneficial microrhizomes around the garden. #quenda #bandicoot #dpaw #australianmarsupial #gardenersfriend #volunteering #organicgarden #protectedspecies #community garden #garden wildlife #lungsofmargaretriver #wednesdaysgarden See more
