24.01.2022 Could this be your saviour this Christmas ? SO tasty - So simple and easy to make ,store in the fridge for up to 1 month ready for that platter,salad or quick meal . "Momo Eggs" .Soak 6 boiled and peeled eggs in Momo liquid - (1c soya sauce ,1c white vinegar , 1 c water and either 1/4 c of sweet chilli sauce or 1/4 c sugar , bring up to boil then cool .Momo Liquid can be reused again for more eggs ) BESt results soak overnight as white is still a fantastic contrast .Like me and I'll share ALL the secrets to boiling and peeling eggs !

The girls are settling into their new yards and house but it will take months before the olive,figs mulberries etc that we have planted will provide good shade and shelter SO we have as usual sent out a plea for old trampolines in the community which the girls love as play areas . What a great community ! With in 10 minutes we have our first donation - the girls will be happy !

21.01.2022 "Officially Free Range!" Auditor Suzette with John our Manager Manager and Vet finishing our annual audit on 10/10/2016 .It is an unusually hot day and the hens are out on the 'stone yard'(they need to ingest pebbles for their gizzard to help with digestion as they don't have teeth!) 2500 hens per hectare meets THE standard because we rotate our hens yards and complies with all international standards such as RSPCA , Humane , etc

'They' say it will rain on Sunday .The girls ARE NOT complaining as they LOVE the cool weather .27/1/2017 They also love the trampolines our wonderful local community donate .Hens are jungle creatures and like cover from the sky .We provide a lot of trees and shrubs BUT they prevent pasture growing .SO in area as we want to maintain pasture ...tramps ...provide a moveable "jungle" .

Closes December 31st 2016 .

13.01.2022 What do you think about stocking densities ? Our hens LIKE to come outside because they are provided with plenty of shelter , lots of forage and things to do .We think rotating the girls into new yards every day is vital to maintaining pasture and allowing the sunlight to kill pathogens .BUT because this means less yard space for the hens everyday than if we just let them out onto the whole range unrestricted . It is going to effect our overall 'SD' .New legislation is encouraging us to do just that and have a better "stocking density" formulae but we don't think it's as good for the girls as having smaller rotated yards .WHAT do you think ? Your feedback is vital to us

Monday 11th December ,Midday and it is HOT outside .While most of the girls have gone inside to cool under the water misters and fans ,a few girls have decided to catch up under the shade of an olive tree .Not much pasture left but wait until you see our new pasture feeder !

11.01.2022 Quickest,easiest, yummy cake to eat or freeze . Margaret River Free Range Egg Cake Beat together for 5 minutes on medium speed 4 large MRFREggs (50g - 60g x 4 is best) 225 g soft butter ... 225 g caster sugar (about 1 cup) 225 g SR flour (about 1 1/2 cups) 1 teaspoon baking powder Pour mixture into two greased 20cm round tins Bake for 25 minutes in preheated 180oC oven . Should be starting to shrink from sides . Cool before icing ,creaming or freezing Weighing dry ingredients gets best results See more

They have their grass manicured before they inspect it 25 th October 2017 .Long grass can kill the girls by compacting in their gizzards so at this time of the year with the grass growing fast we mow it before they roam into their new daily yard ......We think they appreciate it ?

09.01.2022 Upside to a stormy weather is the bonfire that follows! The team at Margaret River Free Range Eggs and a few neighbors got together last weekend to clear up storm debris. The night ended around the fire with some live music from local Blue Grass group Doug and Cletus. This clip was filmed on the night. Featuring Beau the Labrador and Lilly the Jack Russel. 08.01.2022 EASIEST,YUMMIEST - emergency cake! This ALL in ONE ,Victoria Sponge Cake is so quick to make! I ALWAYS have several in the freezer .Ice or cream while frozen for ease and best results then cake will defrost while you boil the kettle ( well 15 - 20 minute) .Need a quick dessert ? Put cake in a bowl and cover with sliced fresh or canned fruit ,then top with custard and cream .Bliss!

08.01.2022 Rain ,hail or sunshine our girls are allowed out EVERYday .If it is very wet or very hot they may only spend a short time outside under some shelter but they have the choice and most choose to .Elderberry bushes are loved by the girls and the blossom is a huge insect attractant

07.01.2022 Son in Law Eggs- recipe requested by Kerry Leigh .Great for a snack (or served with a salad or rice for a light meal ) The recipe calls for a soft boiled egg , peeled , then fried in oil , then tossed in a sweet sour sauce .OUR killer simple version , starts with an egg - fried! Then just as the egg(eggs) are crisping at the edge , the sauce ingredients are grown in to caramelise ! Eggs and sauce finish cooking together( I'm a one pot cook ) ! Request recipe here

05.01.2022 What is a collective noun for a group of gorgeous guys ? Especially when they ALL have an interest in birds ! Scott from WA Health Department brought two PHD Students to the farm to investigate Free Range Management But it's a two way experience as they are really already experts in their fields . Akan ( far left) has just finished a large study demonstrating the benefits of green tea in a hens diet ? "NO GIRLS ! I'm not doing morning tea" ...yet

04.01.2022 Today - Twelve more Elderberry plants in, 1 kilo of Warragul seed and 500g Amaranth seed ...and two trampolines . Only the Tagataste to plant and the TEN trampolines donated to put in ! The girls are delighted with the weather but if it doesn't rain soon WE will have a lot of watering to do .

04.01.2022 About to Rain but the girls think it's OK outside .Last day of October 2016 and Edison doing a 'chick check' as we call it . Now 9 am but EVERYONE here has been working since 6.30 am .
