17.01.2022 ** UPDATE ** 3-year-old missing boy James has been located in bushland alive by a family member who was assisting with the land search operation. Given the tim...e he has spent exposed to the rough terrain and poor weather conditions, arrangements will be made for him to have a medical check-up as a precaution. WA Police Force thanks all the emergency service volunteers and community members who assisted with the search. Original Post: Police are searching for a missing 3-year-old boy James in the area around Karli Rise, Yallingup. James was last seen about 7:30am today, Saturday 19 September 2020. James is described as fair skinned with blonde hair and blue eyes. He is wearing white Spiderman pyjamas. It is believed James is also wearing wellington boots. Anyone who sees James is asked to remain with him and call Police immediately on 000. While some search resources will scale down overnight, Police will remain in the search area and continue to conduct patrols and search for James. If James is not located by tonight, the full search operation will continue tomorrow. Important message from Police in relation to locals residents attending the search area: - Thank you to everyone who has attended the search area. The response has been significant. - It is important members of the public do not venture into the bushland areas as they may inadvertently compromise evidence of where James has walked, and that could impact on the ability of trained searchers to track his movements. - Anyone who is in the area already is asked to stick to the main tracks and roads. - At this time there is no need for further members of the public to attend the location. - For those people who are already on site it is important they register their attendance at the Incident Command Post which is located at the DFES SES building on Caves Road. Post last updated at 7:20pm 19/09/2020.

13.01.2022 Guess who has a shiny new General Rescue Ute (GRU) to trial for two weeks?? Today we tested the GRUs off-road towing ability with a tour of the beautiful Margaret River coast. And just like most SES trips to the beach, we took our All-Terrain rescue buggy and trailer with us. The GRU is comfortable, well-appointed, and managed the corrugated gravel and 2.5-tonne trailer without a problem. Thanks DFES Fleet for trusting us with your baby.

08.01.2022 In honour of WOW Day, we would like to introduce you to our members. Our first introduction is David Hull, one of the deputy managers at Margaret River SES and also the awesome chef at Drift cafe. Dave joined the SES to do something completely different and to learn new skills that he wouldnt get in everyday life. He enjoys not only gardening, outdoor sports and exploring Australia, but also vertical rescue and land search.... When asked how he fits SES into his life, he said "I wont lie, it can be a challenge, I work full time and have a young family, but you will always make time if you love what you do. I have learnt so many new and useful skills that can be incorporated into everyday life. #driftcafe #margaretriverses

04.01.2022 Our new volunteers are preparing for the bushfire season under the guidance of experts from the Shire of Augusta Margaret River. In the months ahead, we'll be transporting firies, delivering meals, moving foam and appliances, and supporting our frontline firefighters. You don't have to wear orange (or blue ) to support our firies: more info at https://www.dfes.wa.gov.au/bushfire/. Thanks Adam, Greg, and all our volunteers for your amazing work to keep our community safe. And thanks Southern Crust for feeding us during training.

04.01.2022 This week is National Volunteer Week! A great time to celebrate all our volunteers around the State and particularly those in our emergency services. A big than...k you to everyone who volunteers to keep us safe from harm and is there long afterwards to help us recover. And who often put in the hard yards beforehand as well to try to prevent harm from occurring. I have travelled tens of thousands of kilometres throughout WA to meet with hundreds and hundreds of volunteers to thank them for their service (and enjoy a home-made baked treat or two). No matter the age, background or experience, every emergency service volunteer has the same attitude: theyre doing it for their community. So on behalf of the entire WA community - and the McGowan Government - another big thank you for being part of Western Australias emergency services. Wed be lost without you.

04.01.2022 This week is Carers Week We would like to recognise the contributions and courage of 2.65 million Australians who provide help and support to a family member or friend. Here's Dave and Riley with a special message for those who care, especially our colleagues in orange . #ShareYouCare

04.01.2022 A quick reminder that BEN signs are now all along the coast in our region. If you need help, quoting the nearest BEN sign will ensure emergency services can locate and assist you as quickly as possible.

04.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day, a reminder to check in how the people around us are going. 2020 has been challenging, so now more than ever it is important to be aware of our own mental health and the mental health of those we care about. Research has shown that volunteering can be beneficial for your mental health. There are many volunteering opportunities in our community, so take care of yourself and help others at the same time.

03.01.2022 Congratulations to our Leadership Team who were elected at last nights AGM. Thank you to all members who attended, especially those who took that extra step to support their community and fellow volunteers! Thank you also Southern Crust for the catering ;-) Well leave you with a few of our favourite photos from the past year. From the wild COVID-free days of 2019 through to socially distanced training in 2020, its been an interesting year ;-)

03.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who attended our recent Fathers Night. We enjoyed being able to share some of the skills we use with you. A great evenings training.

03.01.2022 Retired members - we need your help! We are collating a history of the Augusta-Margaret River SES unit. Please get in touch with the following: * Dates you were a member * Significant events during your time at the unit * Office bearers (manager, etc...) at the time... * Relevant photos We have good records from 2010 onwards, but have very little information from before 2000. We are especially interested in details on the foundation of the unit. Please send contributions to [email protected], via FB messenger, or post to PO Box 726, Margaret River. All contributors will receive a copy of the collated notes, which we hope to complete by the end of October. Thank you See more
