25.01.2022 The City of Kalamunda libraries are trialling extended opening hours for each location at least one evening a week from Monday, 18 January. Our libraries are such an amazing community resource and this trial means more people can access reading material and resources as well as our computers and printers into the evening. Find more information on the City’s libraries including locations, opening times and event listings here: https://kalamunda.wa.gov.au/community/libraries or call 9257 9999.

24.01.2022 The City of Kalamunda has partnered with the Forrestfield United Football Club for Hartfield Park to become a training site for the FIFA Womens World Cup 2023. The City is a strong supporter of community sport and welcomed the partnership with FUFC. It would be a major coup to see one of our local sporting fields become the training ground for international elite womens teams. We should find out next year if we are successful. Ill keep you all updated. ... Image credit to cartoonist Geoff Stribley.

24.01.2022 Supporting local business is so important to me. Join me this Friday at the King and Spoon in Lesmurdie for a chat, a coffee and find out the latest information for the City.

24.01.2022 Today at 11am I will be sounding the Last Post at the Kalamunda RSL Remembrance Day service at the Kalamunda Cenotaph. Even if you can’t get to the service I ask that everyone observes a minute of silence at 11am to remember those who served for us. #wewillrememberthem #lestweforget2020

24.01.2022 The City of Kalamunda has been directed to stop our residents from using playgrounds, skateparks and outdoor gyms due to COVID-19 and we have put up signs, ropes and barriers to restrict this. However, some of our ratepayers or their children are doing the wrong thing and taking down signs and ropes, using the equipment and meeting in groups. This is very disappointing and we will have no option but to request a police presence which could incur serious fines. We are doing this for your safety so please do the right thing and we will get through this.

22.01.2022 I recently attended the City of Belmont WA Oaks Day and networked with CEO's, Mayors, and councillors from other local government areas. It's important to regularly engage with them so we can share our experiences, challenges, and goals for our respective communities. 20.01.2022 Kalamunda residents, dig up that old radio and tune in on Saturday morning. We can't gather but we can listen, and remember.

19.01.2022 The Arts is very important to me. Music, art, theatre and dance should be part of everyones lives. So it is great that the City of Kalamunda is embarking on the journey to develop its Public Art Master Plan and is looking for like-minded residents to get involved. The Master Plan will identify potential themes, sites and forms for artworks to be commissioned. Residents are invited to join the Citys online community workshop which will be facilitated by leading Public Art Co...nsultant Maggie Baxter. The online community workshop will take place on Wednesday 27 May 2020 starting at 10:30am to 11:30am. Residents can register via engage.kalamunda.wa.gov.au/public-art #artisimportant #kalamunda #publicart

19.01.2022 It was an absolute pleasure to represent the Premier Mark McGowan and Minister Mick Murray at the Retirees WA Annual Congress this morning. I was joined by my p...arliamentary colleagues Kate Doust MLC, Mark Folkard MLA and Stephen Price MLA - Member for Forrestfield. This auspicious event reminds us that everyone has the right to enjoy a fantastic and fulfilling retirement. (With Retirees WA CEO and City of Kalamunda Mayor Margaret Thomas, Stephen Price MLA and Peter)

19.01.2022 The City is supportive of the community exercising in ways that they can at this time. It is important to note that playgrounds and skateparks remain closed, however we encourage community members to walk, go for a run or use our parks and sporting reserves. Social distancing rules must apply with groups of no more than 2 people, or immediate family members. I would like to congratulate the Kalamunda & Districts Junior Football Club Senior Vice President, Dave Feast, who I know has been turning the lights on at Kostera on weeknights until 7.30pm and has been keeping an eye on things I am sure Dave is only one of many unsung heroes. I would love to hear what other clubs are currently doing as well.

18.01.2022 The City of Kalamunda is seeking expressions of interest for their 2020 Christmas events program. The City is seeking expressions of interest for any community groups who are hosting event which is open to the public during the upcoming 2020 Christmas period and would like to be included in our City's program.

18.01.2022 Mayor Margaret Thomas popped in to Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre this morning to pass on funds raised by the City libraries recent book sale! While... there, Chair Helen Riley let us know the centre will continue to operate over the festive period which got us thinking there’s only seven sleeps until Christmas morning if you’re struggling to ‘find’ that special gift for your special someone how about adopting an animal from Kanyana? Adoptions are valid for 12-months and are available in three levels; common native animals ($20), less common native animals ($35), and endangered native animals ($50). And if you’ve got a few more $$ you can always make a one-off donation in your loved one’s name via the website too easy But that’s not all - the centre needs more volunteers to help clean habitats and prepare meals for the animals as well as maintenance crew, gardeners and people to help with admin! Be aware, some tasks are repetitive but once trained, Kanyana vollies should feel comfortable working autonomously to get the job done. There are so many ways you can help out at Kanyana so get in touch - https://kanyanawildlife.org.au/ See more

16.01.2022 It was an honour to present the City of Kalamunda Local Hero Award last night, to Committed football coach and mentor, Dave Feast. As Senior Vice President of the Kalamunda Districts Junior Football Club, Dave has been working tirelessly with our youth for a number of years, along with being a team coach and this year helping out with the training of some of the Clubs first all-female teams. During the COVID-19 crisis, his desire to see our youth have a safe community spac...e to exercise has meant he was at Kostera Oval every day, after work, to ensure social distancing, encourage exercising and provide hand sanitiser. His dedication to the whole community has meant the oval was well lit each evening as he stayed back to turn the lights on and off, extending the time available for contactless physical activities. We are so fortunate to have people like Dave in our community who are passionate about making a difference and freely volunteer their time and skills enriching the lives of so many, especially our youth. We thank him for his selfless contribution to our neighbourhood. If you want to nominate someone for a local hero award visit engage.kalamunda.wa.gov.au/local-heros

15.01.2022 Johnny Cash and June Carter would have been impressed with Fenton and Narelle's rendition of their music with an audience of over 250 in the beautiful setting of Romancing the Stone Gardens in Maida Vale last weekend. The concert was another great event organised by the Darling Range Seniors Hub. The supper was magnificent as it always is at Hub events. The Hub have recently moved to the Jack Healy Centre in Kalamunda so go along and see the fabulous things they do and meet the other members. #johnnycashtribute #beautifulgardens

12.01.2022 I had the honour of attending the Walliston Primary School Anzac service yesterday to lay a wreath and play the Last Post. The service was very moving and I am glad the students had the opportunity to think about what Anzac Day is all about. It is such a shame we won't be able to pay our respects at traditional services on Sunday due to the lockdown in Perth so I encourage you to participate in your own Light up the Dawn Driveway Service at 6am. I will be doing the Last Post in my own driveway. https://lightupthedawn.com.au/ #lestweforget2021 #lightupthedawn #ANZACDay2021

11.01.2022 In line with the WA Governments COVID-19 Phase 3 easing of restrictions, the City of Kalamunda will reopen a range of community and public recreation facilities from Saturday, 6 June and what a relief it is that we can start using these facilities again.
