15.01.2022 American Bald Eagles [Haliaeetus leucocephalus]. . These two juvenile bald eagles were having a fight over a piece of salmon. . Chilkat River Preserve is home of the Bald Eagle.... . Established in June 1982 to protect the worlds largest concentration of Bald Eagles and their critical pristine protected habitat. . Approx 200-400 bald eagles live in this protected habitat. . November is the Bald Eagle Festival and the best time to come and photograph these amazing birds. . As the river freezes leaving little areas for the eagles to catch their salmon. . Some eagles will swoop down from the trees and catch a salmon while others are too lazy, but would rather wait til an eagle has caught a salmon and then try and steal the salmon from its talons. . There is a lot of entertainment watching the Eagles fish and fight amongst themselves for their precious salmon. . The eagles in this photo are juveniles as they havent developed fully white feathers on their heads and still have many white feathers under their wings and tail. . A great Bald Eagle photography experience, but not for the faint hearted as the temperatures were -20c for the duration of my weeks stay in Haines. . . . #chilkatriver #chilkatrivereaglepreserve #baldeaglepreserve #hainesalaska #usatravel #northamerica #baldeaglesofinstagram #alaskaadventure #alaskaphotography #baldeagles #snowylandscapes #minus20c #belowzero #20below #amazingdestinations #freezingcold #natgeotraveller #baldeaglefoundation #landscapephotographer #frozen #landscapephotography @americanbaldeaglefoundation #snowhite #margaretweissphotography See more
