02.01.2022 Yesterday I was involved in a car accident. During the process I was aware of the shock moving down my spine to my right hip. I was initially panicked and couldn’t breathe. Then remembered I know how to manage trauma. So took myself in hand. Did the long slow out breath for a minute or so. My body calmed and I was able to think clearly and get required details from other drivers involved. I was also able to calm the young man who hit me reminding him no one was killed. The skills we learn as trauma workers help nit only out clients but people around us and even ourselves in catastrophic moments .
