25.01.2022 Maria Island facility upgrades Construction of new toilet facilities at two Maria Island campsites has begun and is expected to be complete when parks and reser...ves are reopened to the public. Local company East Coast Constructions will build new toilet facilities at Encampment Cove and Frenchs Farm campsites. Additionally, new heritage guttering on Frenchs Farmhouse will increase the water collection capacity. Tenders are now open for a different project - to construct stage two of the wastewater transfer system for the Jetty and Penitentiary amenities blocks in the popular Darlington Precinct. Work on connecting the Jetty and Penitentiary amenities block to the existing wastewater treatment facility through a new transfer system is expected to begin in a couple of months.
