25.01.2022 LATEST NEWS This morning Senator for Western Australia Mathias Cormann, in conjunction with WA Premier Mark McGowan and WA Minister for Education and Training Sue Ellery, have announced that Perth's status as a regional city will be reinstated from 16 November 2019. Three hours later the Prime Minister Scott Morrison, the Hon Alan Tudge MP and the Hon Dan Tehan MP have confirmed that the Gold Coast will be included in the list of locations designated as regional on 16 Novembe...r 2019. An extra 2,000 skilled regional visa places have also been announced, increasing the regional cap from 23,000 to 25,000. This will open the door to easier migration to Perth and Gold Coast for international students and skilled workers. The change is significant for skilled workers trying to apply for the new regional visas commencing on 16 November 2019: - Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) and - Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494) Additionally, It would benefit students who would be awarded: - 5 points in the Skilled visa points for studying in a regional area - extra 1 year for the graduate 485 visa

22.01.2022 Italy added to travel restricted countries The Australian Government has announced that travel restrictions will be imposed today from 6 pm on those who have travelled from or through Italy in the last 14 days. These latest travel restrictions are added to those that continue for travellers from China (Mainland), the Republic of Korea and Iran. Although the Department's website is not yet updated with this new information, it is expected that the same conditions will be im...posed on Italian travellers as those from the other affected countries. 14.01.2022 Breaking News for Student Visa Applicants and Holders impacted by the COVID-19 circumstances Today, 20 July 2020, the Hon Ministers Alan Tudge and Dan Tehan announced changes for student visa applicants and student visa holders who have been affected by the Covid-19 restrictions. The arrangements will include: The Government will recommence granting student visas in ... all locations lodged outside Australia. This means when borders re-open, students will already have visas and be able to make arrangements to travel. International students will be able to lodge a further student visa application free of charge, if they are unable to complete their studies within their original visa validity due to COVID-19. Current student visa holders studying online outside Australia due to COVID-19 will be able to use that study to count towards the Australian study requirement for a post-study work visa. Graduates who held a student visa will be eligible to apply for a post-study work visa outside Australia if they are unable to return due to COVID-19. Additional time will be given for applicants to provide English language results where COVID-19 has disrupted access to these services.

14.01.2022 408 visa - COVID-19 stream In response to Covid-19 health crisis, the Department of Home Affairs has introduced a new substream to the Temporary Activity (subclass 408) visa, under AGEE (Australian Government Endorsed Event) stream. Yesterday, 22 April, import changes have been made to the online application form.... Additionally, the Department has released a F.A.Q sheet clarifying that this visa is not only aimed to people who work in critical sectors, but also to those who are unable to depart Australia due to COVID-19 and are not eligible to apply for other visas. WHO CAN APPLY: Applicant must be in Australia - The COVID-19 Pandemic event visa can only be granted to people in Australia. Applicant must have 28 days or less remaining on your current visa or your last temporary visa has expired less than 28 days ago Applicant is not eligible for any other visa, or Applicant has ongoing work in a critical sector and that an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident cannot fill the position If applicant IS WORKING in one of the critical sectors (currently are agriculture, food processing, health care, aged care, disability care and childcare) the visa might be granted up to 12 months with full rights and condition 8107 will be imposed on the visa (applicant must continue doing the work declared in the application and they can't start doing another activity, otherwise visa might be subject to cancellation) If applicant is NOT WORKING in one of the critical sectors, can apply for visa 408 - COVID-19 if he/she is not eligible to apply for another visa and the visa might be granted up to six months. Prime Minister included International Student Travel into the third step. Certainly, that is a good news for hundreds of thousands of international students stuck offshore, however it does come into the third step of the plan and that is a possibility.
