24.01.2022 A dark and gloomy day on the farm today but that couldn't wipe the smiles off of our faces on delivery day. This new chariot will come in very handy this wet season with large floatation tyres allowing us onto our turf sooner to mow and spray. Big thanks to Saliba Ag for the purpose built floatation tyres and rims and David Pace at Vanderfield for the excellent service and quality product once again! #marianlawns #bettergreener #greenisgood

23.01.2022 In this difficult time we are all facing, it sometimes feels like there's not much to look forward to with the current situation in our country, and in fact the world. However, we would love to share some positive vibes coming out of our farm. A lot of our followers would know, we are in the process of developing our own green couch and could be coming to the business end of 'naming' this awesome stuff. Here's a couple of photos taken this afternoon of this grass. We planted ...this plot on January 21, 2020. It was watered for 3 days for 1 hour per day. It then started to rain (probably abit too much at times for ideal growing) and we applied a light application of nitrogen at week 4. For the remaining time, it's just been doing it's thing, and doing it beautifully! 18.01.2022 HELLO lawn lovers! Sorry we've been very quiet on social media of late, our workload has been MASSIVE and is continuing in leaps and bounds. Thanks to our wonderful clients around Mackay and the valley for continuing to support our small business in these difficult times. We appreciate it very much. We have turf heading all over the place at the moment and here's a few happy snaps of projects underway. Everyone should jump on board when cricket season gets underway again, as ...we have just line planted a brand new surface at Pinnacle cricket clubs ground, so head up the Valley for a pinnacle pie and watch the cricket when it's back in action! We're supplying turf to the Queens Park revitalisation, the Mackay ring road project, local subdivision works and also a large project at the Mackay Harbour. 17.01.2022 HOW AWESOME IS THIS Early this week was the commissioning of our new Australian made Upton Centre Pivot Irrigation aluminium piped linear move irrigator. This machine will help bring in the next paddock of #premiumlawnturf at our farm and we're now itching to hook in and start initial ground work. We choose to use linear move machines as our blocks are perfectly rectangular, so we can maximise our growing area. Can't wait to be punching out near 400m long runs in this new block, hopefully around July 2021...if the weather holds enough for us to get done, what needs to be done if anyone is after a unit like this, get in touch with the Upton boys. 13.01.2022 PART 2 of our new grass story for those who are following! We've trialled many varieties of turf over the years and had some good ones and some that haven't been quite what we were looking for. Our new grass has really impressed us and is why we are persisting with the process we're undertaking. Couch grass can sometimes look amazing in a paddock but come harvest time, is very frustrating. This stuff you can see here (name coming soon) is honestly the best we have come across for strength of sod. Not only is it beautifully green, but the boys love playing with this stuff!! #marianlawns #bettergreener

Many great projects happening in our region and alot of infrastructure coming online making our Mackay/Whitsunday area shine! One project which we have been proud to help complete is the Queen Victoria Park (Queens Park) revitalisation. 06.01.2022 In 2010 we had a very prolonged wet season which destroyed roughly 70% of our turf crop. Since then we have been making improvements to ensure a repeat doesn't happen to that extent again. Just completed here at our farm is a near 1km long drainage system to allow flood water to flow freely, instead of being trapped in low lying areas and in the process, fill low areas on our paddocks. Thanks to Mclennan Lasering for a great job, well done!

02.01.2022 Finally we've been able to get onto a paddock to do abit of mowing. Here, late yesterday finishing off the last strip in our most recently planted paddock of Sir Walter Buffalo. We've had 520mm of rain since Christmas eve, with more on the way! Hopefully however, we get a couple of weeks of fine weather to harvest some turf. He hired our #mowmaster pedestrian de-thatcher/scarifier and was impressed with the results.
