20.01.2022 I grew up with the story told by my mother of how she was asked by a friend if she would pump some breastmilk for her premature baby twin boys. The twins were very ill and the doctor said that these babies must have breastmilk or they would not survive. The year was 1952. My mother got to it and pumped enough milk for those babies to grow and recover. My father took the milk to work in the city in Woodroofes Lemonade bottles and gave them to the baby’s father who took them t...o the hospital. My old mum died this year and I have been sorting through her boxes and boxes of letters and there today was this note from her friend. Dear Margaret, These bottles have been boiled and are ready to use. I can’t help feeling frightfully envious of you with your healthy baby. It’s all a bit of a worry at present as the little twins aren’t doing too well. I can’t bear to talk about them as I feel a bit weepy. I don’t want to leave them at the hospital at all but the staff keep pushing me off home. Many thanks for doing this. I’ll never be able to stop being thankful to you if it saves my little boys. Needless to say, I didn’t throw this little letter away.

18.01.2022 It’s often referred to as He’s using you as a dummy, don’t let that happen. I say it’s an integral part of breastfeeding.....comfort sucking, flutter sucking, non-nutritive sucking, and the stimulatory phase, sending through more milk with another let down. Love your work Nancy.
