11.01.2022 Some notes about "In Search of a Reputation". One of the readers was expecting a standard sort of story and was disappointed. This isn't a standard formula stor...y, in some respects it is a bit like a crime mystery, the reader pieces together the elements that finally lead to the main character's success. For example there are several chapters that look disconnected from a standard story line, but are a major part of the information the reader needs to understand the character and know what has made his success. Though they are not completely disconnected from the story line. At this point I'll throw in that those chapters contain some segments of lectures (translations) that were part of the subjects taught at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in the 1870s and are of interest to artists. 01.01.2022 Today the page went past 3,000 likes and 3,100 followers. Thank you to everyone that has shown an interest in the work of Jules Bastien-Lepage. The study for Je...anne d'Arc is one of many that Jules prepared while trying to arrive at the final pose. He also tried out different events, including her burning at the stake. The reasoning behind the final pose in the famous painting in the Met is incredibly complex, so I'm writing a book on it that should come out in October of 2021. See more
