25.01.2022 How many times do you beat yourself up in moments when you feel like you just don’t measure up no matter how hard you try? How many times do you not bother trying or give up before you’ve tried out of fear that your efforts will be far from perfect? If this is you then you are not alone because we are all made of the same stuff my friend and you know what? None of us are perfect and, one day, none of our achievements or reputation will even matter.... At the end of our lives, it won’t matter whether or not we’re perfect. What will matter most is how much did you LOVE? What good will being perfect be if there is no love? Love for those around us, love for what we do, and that healthy self-love for ourselves? 25.01.2022 Do you feel like you have a wardrobe full of clothes yet still feel like you have NOTHING to wear? I've been umming and ahing about this all week but after all the msgs I received from people who missed out on or couldn't attend the workshop I gave last weekend on how to build your own Capsule Wardrobe... I've decided WTHECK I'm going to bite the bullet and launch the beauty program that I started putting together earlier this year. 23.01.2022 When did you last use the advice ‘fake it til you make it’? That easily could have been my mantra when I started in the hair and makeup industry. I really wanted to help women feel beautiful from the INSIDE out, but without the experience of working with and experiencing the vulnerability of my clients first, it felt a bit like a stab in the dark as to what the real beauty battles were. I messed up plenty, and I even used to get turned away when I first started out as ...not 'having enough experience'. But with every stumble or fall, I got back up. And I’m so glad I did because eventually, I found ways to truly make women feel comfortable sitting in my makeup chair so that we can customise their looks 'together' in way that they don't feel like 'someone else'. What I'm even more grateful for is that 6 years later, I'm on the brink of releasing a program that will TRULY be working in the space of helping women feel beautiful from the INSIDE first and then have a transformational impact on their daily lives (far more than what special occasion makeup can do). 22.01.2022 IT'S HERE I’m so happy to share it with you that this year, I’m officially expanding my work beyond hair and makeup and putting my training as a stylist to good use! With this work on inner beauty that we’ve been exploring together, my audience has been knocking on my door wanting to find a way to incorporate a more holistic approach to beauty into their every-day lives, stop comparing themselves to others, and learn how to love their unique qualities unapologetically.... 19.01.2022 What do you do in moments when you... ... feel like giving up? ... feel defeated? ... feel like you're not performing as you'd like to?... ... feel like you're running out of options? ... feeling hiding in a hole and never coming out? ... are in a bad headspace? ... are being hard on yourself? ... don't know what the right answer is? ... don't know what the best move is? ... feel hopeless? If you're anything like me, then chances are that you've felt at least ONE of these. I know friend, it's not a nice feeling is it? The truth is, we are all the same and all made of the same stuff. No-one is immune to this and everyone is carrying their own battles in one way or another. So in those moments when you feel so deflated, remember to ask yourself this question. "What are you making it mean?" The truth is, if you missed that shot, didn't hit the mark, didn't win that pitch, didn't get asked for a second date... whatever it is... it means absolutely NOTHING. No doubt there is probably a lesson there to be learnt and that's great. But don't beat yourself up. It has NOTHING to do with your... ... competence ... intelligence ... beauty ... (insert whatever you're questioning) When you're in a bad headspace, do what you need to do to shake it off because you have a CHOICE (and the power) in what you make your setbacks mean. It doesn't matter how many times you fall but how many times you get back up. So my friend, what will you do?

19.01.2022 Did you take the road less traveled? When I was in school, I had my heart set on becoming a hairdresser but fell into following the "secure" path of going to uni and studying accounting. Yes, I did pursue a career in accounting at first before realising that my creativity was something I couldn't ignore so I've ventured into this world of the creative industries. ... I will admit, forging your own path in this space can be tough at times because no-one will "tell you the answers" and there is no set career progression to follow. I bought a few sets to play with and experimented on @typicalnen As a mum, things can get a bit busy and I’m always looking for creative ways to do things more efficiently. I thought I’d give these a babies a try because:... I find it hard to sit still long enough for my nail polish to dry. (I always end up touching them and I end up with lumps for the next couple of weeks. These grow out neater and don’t chip. I don’t always have time to do my nails and I have a thing with chipped nail polish. I don’t feel as put together when my nail polish is chipped . 12.01.2022 As much as I wanted to launch my beauty program this year, I have decided to put it on hold. After doing my market research, I found that although women saw how my program would be helpful, the biggest barrier they faced to enrolling into the program was that they either didn't believe they were worth investing in or didn't have the confidence to try something new or take a chance on themselves. This pulls so hard on my heart-strings because it really makes me think.... what ...is it? What is it so deep down that could make so many women feel this way. This was the underlying message from my market research of about 30 women. If I were to launch a beauty program, I'd like it to be more than just applying makeup but to really go deep into a woman's soul to build her confidence and beauty from the inside out. So I'll work on this a little longer and come back when I'm ready. In the meantime, I've had quite a few people reach out to me about their projects, new business ideas and questions. I know it's been a tough time for some people financially and many people need to find creative ways to create another income stream. I'm passionate about helping people in whatever way I can and one area I see a lot of people get stuck is with financial literacy, particularly in understanding this in a small business context, cashflow management and financial viability. ... so I've taken your feedback on board and will be sharing more behind the scenes content on business, financial literacy in small business and am even thinking of working exclusively with a small group of small business owners/side hustlers to get financially savvy so that they can smash their money goals! 09.01.2022 Ever wonder what really goes on in the shadows? I’ve been juggling a side hustle with an office job for 6 years now. There are all sorts of challenges that come with it, but one that’s pretty tough to shake lately is having limited head-space and not being able to focus as much time on my biz as I'd like to. ... I’m chipping away at it by taking a little step back from socials and prioritising the time I have on serving my clients as best as I can behind the scenes. It's so easy to feel overwhelmed/behind by not posting on socials (and I used to feel bad about it) but after all this time... I've learnt to give myself grace and be happy with doing what I can with the time that I have. It’s not as glamourous to share your struggles but I hope that bringing this one to light can help you see that you're not alone and it's normal and "OKAY" not to reach "all the things" all the time. 04.01.2022 Do you sometimes forget to make time to acknowledge an accomplishment before moving on to pursue the next? Guilty! If you've had to make some big shifts in plans, goals, and mindset this year, you can probably relate to the feeling of "change fatigue" at this time of the year. ... For the last few weeks, I've had to take a step back to stop trying to be ... ... productive ... efficient ... innovative for just a minute in order to PAUSE and acknowledge the positives and the wins that have come about this year. I don't know about you but when I'm constantly racing from one thing to the next, it's so easy to forget celebrating the little wins along the way and get stuck in feeling like you've still accomplished "nothing" or that you're not where you'd like to be. As 2020 comes to a close, it's so tempting to dwell on all the negatives faced this year. No doubt, you and I have faced some serious challenges but I'm sure that there are countless little wins that we haven't even noticed let alone celebrated.
