22.01.2022 Wrapped up my second and final day at Ardtornish Primary School's Writers' Festival, yesterday with Adam Cece and today with Mike Lucas (pictured). The school appoints each author three student ambassadors who accompany us everywhere, carry stuff for us, help up set up and teach us Tiktok dances. Can't say my Tiktok dancing is up to much but I appreciated the help (and I'm not sure how I can go back to normal life having to do everything for myself!). It's been a lovely two days. Thanks, Becky's Literary Bookings, for arranging things.

17.01.2022 When I visit a school, I often whip out my Worry Tree puppets to create a living Worry Tree as happened this week at Lobethal Primary School. Thanks to the students for taking part and being so enthusiastic. It was great fun talking about which animals looks after which types of worries. If you'd like to book me for a school visit either on The Worry Tree or any of my other books, please contact my booking agent, Becky Lucas, of @Becky's Literary Bookings.

12.01.2022 Received a warm welcome from Lobethal Primary School today where I shared an author visit with Katrina Germein. The first class greeted me with their rendition of 'The Irritating Song' from 'The Worry Tree'. They told me they'd even made up an extra verse just to make it extra irritating which was both hilarious and touching :D Later, I spoke with some older students about 'Frieda' and the internment of Germans during WW1 which was of particular interest seeing as Lobethal had a forced named change during the war to 'unGermanise' it. (It was changed to Tweedvale in 1917 then back to Lobethal in 1935.) We wrapped up the day with a writing workshop focusing on seeing beyond the obvious. Thanks @Becky's Literary Bookings for arranging such an enjoyable visit.

08.01.2022 What can you make with a chopping board, a lazy susan, some PVA glue and a texta? This is my cliché-busting wheel of fortune, a fun tool for my upcoming writing workshop at Lobethal Primary School next week. Written on the wheel are twelve words people often associate with clichés, e.g. cold as ice, big as a house, sky blue. The idea is for students to take a turn spinning the wheel. Whatever word they land on, they have to come up with a list of as many non-cliched similes as they can that relate to that word. Should be fun (I hope!).

04.01.2022 Last batch of Ardtornish PS pics. This is me with my very helpful ambassadors. The first pic features a vintage camera just like the one Frieda's dad uses to take photos of the conditions in the German internment camp on Torrens Island. The second pic features some of the Worry Tree puppets behaving themselves. In the final pic, those puppets get a bit rowdy :D Thanks Jaxon, Hudson, Levi, Tammy, Claire and Evie for your amazing ambassadorial skills and for being such good company. (Pics of children shared with the permission of their parents.)
