22.01.2022 Face to face lessons are a bit of a no-no at the moment, so Speak Better English has decided to offer some online classes - three classes to start with. Our super-fabulous teacher Hazel is going to offer a Zoom class on Workplace Communication for upper-intermediate and advanced EAL speakers, starting on Tuesdays early in July. There will be a maximum of five students in the class, and you can read more about it if you go to our website at www.speakbetterenglish.com.au ... or call me on 0401192097 to find out more about it. 07.01.2022 "Hi Marianne, Thank you for giving me this opportunity to give feedback. I come from China and I have been in Australia for 9 months. I work as a Software Engineer and I have had 20 sessions with my Speak Better English tutor, Claudia. By this chance, I would like to say thank you to Claudia for all her tutoring in the last couple of months, and here are my comments to her:... Claudia is the best teacher I have ever had. She corrected my grammar mistakes, changed my pronunciation, most importantly, she taught me a lot of new words and expressions. Claudia would send me a note every week to help me review our class. During the class, I really enjoyed the fact that I could choose the topics I was interested in, like politics, education system or hot issues happening. Claudia had her opinion on a specific topic, and I could express my opinion as well. We argued if we had different opinions; I argued a lot with her during classes, which she encouraged me to do, and by doing this, I learned faster than other ways. Through this experience I have gained more confidence communicating with my colleagues at work as well as more confident to express myself when I was looking for a new job. We didnt find it appealing to the language schools but we could feel something good to Speak Better English. Marianne was quick to respond to our repeated request. 05.01.2022 Although the pandemic means it is hard for people to consider paying for tutoring when things are so uncertain, we are getting a lot of calls from teachers preparing for the ISLPR test - they need to get 4 x 4s for VIT Registration to work in Victoria. In fact, we are getting ISLPR candidates from all round Australia. 04.01.2022 Speak Better English works with many students preparing for English tests like IELTS, OET and PTE. It can be tricky deciding which test is going to give them the best chance to pass. Changing from IELTS to OET certainly worked out for this student, (although perhaps Sally could have helped Mary get through IELTS as well!) "I am a nurse from the Philippines and I have been in Australia for 2 years. Before finding Speak Better English, I worked with another tutor on Skype to pr...epare for IELTS, but I could not score well in writing - even though I had high scores for everything else - so Marianne encouraged me to change to OET. 04.01.2022 Welcome to Claudia, a teacher just starting with Speak Better English, after several years working in London. Claudia will be working with students in the CBD, Kew, Hawthorn, Doncaster, Bulleen and Balwyn. Her quals: First BA Hons in Italian Language & Literature RSA TEFLA (Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults)... Ive taught English as a Second Language in Australia, Italy, Turkey and England, for over 12 years. Ive mostly taught European and Asian business executives and have helped many students pass their IELTS exam. For 11 years, I also worked as a Business Development Manager in various charities and I eventually became the Chief Executive of Love Is All We Need, a charity that supports AIDS orphans in South Africa. After 18 months in this position, I chose to go back to teaching because I find it more motivating, and Im now able to use my business experience in my teaching. I will create my lessons to suit your professional or academic needs and you can always request to practise specific language areas.
