23.01.2022 To all our lovely clients. During stage 4 restrictions in metropolitan Melbourne you are asked to not travel further than 5 kms from your home. However, for veterinary care or collection of supplies from a veterinary clinic (medication, prescription food etc) you may travel outside your 5km zone. Please only one family member attending the clinic whether with a pet or otherwise. We thank everyone for helping us in these unprecedented times. We understand that new rules and regulations are tough and we sincerely thank all our clients for helping keep everyone safe.

22.01.2022 Fireworks are bright, fun and exciting for humans but unfortunately it may not be the case for our furry friends. The loud noises can be terrifying for animals as they dont understand what is happening. Here are some tips for helping your pet be more comfortable: 1. Keep your pets inside. Even dogs in fenced yards often find a way to escape when they are scared and trying to get away from the noise. 2. Set up a comfortable crate or room in the house for them to feel safe and... secure. 3. Keep a radio, tv or comforting music on to help mask the sounds of the fireworks. 4. Make sure their microchips are up to date and they are wearing a collar, just i case. 5. Consider staying home if your pet displays anxiety to loud noises. Your pet will feel comforted by your presence. If you need any more advice on how to help your anxious pet cope this festive season, call our lovely nurses on (03) 93183349. See more

21.01.2022 Due to the current Covid 19 lockdown of Maidstone and Maribyrnong, we can no longer have clients enter the building, other than to take payments at reception, and only one at a time. 1. Products and food items will be brought to reception. Please call from your car outside so staff can organise. 2. Clients with cat carriers and dogs on leads will be met at the at reception or outside by our nursing staff. ... Please call for exact details of handover. Once this is done, we request that you wait in your car or stay outside. 3. The Vet or nurse will call to discuss history, examinations and management. 4. Once the consultation is complete and any medications have been organised, staff will call you and request you to enter the clinic, settle the account and your pet will be given back to you. Please do not enter the clinic if there is already another person in reception, unless directed by staff. We thank you for your patience and co-operation. Our aim is to keep everyone safe at this stage, and hopefully things will improve in time, and in time we can get back to normality.

12.01.2022 Baby birds! They are so cute and everywhere at this time of year. So what should you do if you find a baby bird? Most of the birds that are found on the ground are fledglings. They are in the process of learning to fly and making their wing muscles strong. The parents of these birds will look after their baby while it is on the ground. You may not see them as they could be off searching for food or too scared to come near when a human is around. If the baby is in an unsafe p...lace, put it somewhere safer nearby for the parents to hear its call. If the bird is clearly unwell or injured you can take it to your local vet. Take note of exactly where you found it as some birds are territorial and need to be released in the same area. It is hard to leave a baby where it is but their parents are their best chance for survival. If you are ever unsure you are welcome to call the clinic and one of our lovely staff can help you with the best course of action. See more

11.01.2022 Sometimes a skin problem with your cat or dog is really a diet-related problem caused by allergies to certain proteins in their food. The @RoyalCaninAnz Dermatology range plays an essential role in the diagnosis and ongoing management of food allergies in cats and dogs. Speak to one of our vets today about how to diagnose and treat food allergies in pets.

02.01.2022 Its not summer yet but the temperature is hitting the high 20s already! It only takes 6 minutes for your pet to die in a hot car. Please dont leave your pets in the car. Even for a minute. Even with the windows down. Even in the shade. It is not only illegal but it is a horrible way for your best friend to go. No errand is worth the risk. If you see a dog in a car on a hot day call 000 immediately. Picture from RSPCA.

01.01.2022 Notice to all our clients: Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus we are asking for your help to keep our staff and the general public safe so we can continue to provide the best care for your pets during this time. Please, if you are unwell or have any symptoms that could point to coronavirus (fever, coughing, runny nose, lethargy, sneezing, respiratory distress) we ask that you do not attend the clinic. We are of course happy to continue to treat your pets but please make arran...gements for someone else to bring them. We want to avoid having our staff get sick and needing to close the clinic so that we can continue to treat your pets as needed. There is hand sanitiser at the front door and we would appreciate if you use it upon entry and exit of the building. If we all work together and distance ourselves when unwell, we can all get through this together. Thankyou. Maribyrnong Vet Clinic. See more
